It was "in that little shack, that Hassan was born in the winter of 1964."(chap. 2) Hassan was the best friend of Amir. Here the story would not have been what it is without him. -
Hassan shows true friendship to Amir
When going to go fetch the kite Hassan yells at Amir, "For you a thousand times over!"(chap 7) Here assan is demonstrating how much he really does cherish the friendship that he and Amir Share. He would do anything for Amir a thousand, showing how much Hassan cares for Amir. -
Hassan gets Raped
Whenwatching Hassan being assaulted by Assef, Amir almost says something but he does not and because of this "[Amirs] life might have turned out differently if I had."(chap 7) Because Amir did not yell, he was not hurt, but his friendship was almost ruined and he only hurt Hassan. Even though Hassan feels that there friendship is unbreakable, Amir saves himself instead of helping Hassan. -
Amir Wins the Kite Competition
Amir won the competetion and after Hassan and Amir shout, "You won, Amir agha! You won!"(chap. 7) Here they both are exuberent about Amir's win. Also It shows their true friednship because they go straight to eachother and compliment eachother after their win. -
Amir Sets Up Hassan and Makes Him Leave
After spending less time with Hassan and feeling distraught about the rape he frames Hassan by, " [planting] [Amir's] new watch and a handful of Afghani bills under his mattress."(chap 9) This was one of Amir's cruelest actions. This not only made Hassan get e bad reputation, but it was this that made them leave. -
Hassan and Ali Leave Baba's
After Amir frames Hassan Ali chooses to leave and Amir saw "one final blurry glimpse of Hassan slumped in the back seat before Baba turned left at the street corner where we'd played marbles so many times."(chap. 9) Here It was becuase of Amir that Hassan and Ali left. Amir had lost his best friend and single handedly hurt his life, showing that Amir was a bad friend to Hassan. -

Baba and Amir Go to America
After becoming refugees, Baba and Amir make it to America and move to fremont. Amir likes America and found it a place "to bury [his] memories."(chap 11) Here Amir feels tat he has a new start, and he can not think of Hassan and how he mistreated him. Because he is in a new place, Amir can now feel less stressed about his troubled past. -
Amir and Sonaya Get Married
On the day of the marrige, Amir "whispered to [Sonaya] for the first time that [he] loved her."(chap 13) This is the first connection that Amir has really has that is strong since his and Hassan's friendship as a kid. Ami is know glad that he has someone to cherish and truly love. -
Baba Dies
When caring for Baba they lay him to sleep and leave, but "Baba never woke up."(chap 13) This was Amir's father, and though he had a rough time with him as a kid, their relationship grew as they both got older. It seems that as Amir's life gets better, Hassans declines. -

Rhahim Khan Calls From Pakistan
After Rhahim Khan called Amir knew he must go to Pakistan to "heal the past of [his] unatoned sins."(chap 14) Now older, Amir knows what he did as a kid was terrible, amd he decides to back to finally repay his sins. Amir is going to atone by helping Rhahim and hopefully Hassan. -
Amir Find Out That Hassan is His Brother
When talking to Rhahim Khan he finds out that Ali was sterile and Amir asks who Hassan's father was and Rhahim says, "I think you know who."(chap. 17) Amir finds that Hassan was actually his brother, and this just makes him feel angry and frustrated about this news. Because of all of his sins and misdeeds that he pulled on Hassan were now much worse. -
Amir Steals Food from Wahid and Atones for His Actions by Putting a Wad oof Cash Under Their Mattress
Amir goes to Wahids house and eats food there that were suppossed to go to the children so he "planted a fistful of crumpled money under a mattress."(chap 19) Just like when he framed Hassan, he planted money under the mattress of the kids, but instead of framing thm he helped them. He is atoning for eating their food by giving them a wad of cash under the mattress. -
Sohrab Attempts Suicide
After Amir finds out that they can all go to America he goes to tell Sorab the new but when he opens the bathroom door he wa suddenly [his] was on my knees, screaming,"(chap 24) After Amir finds him in the water, he calls the ambulence and saves him, but Sohrab wanted his old life back and scolds Amir and silences himself. -
World Trade Centers Attacked
Al Queda threw an "attack on the World Trade Cneter un New York.(NY Times 2) -
Amir Gets Along with Sohrab and Kite Fights with Him
When Sohrab is silencing himself, Amir finally gets to him when he kite fights with him. When he lets him fly the kite he says, "for you a thousand times over."(chap 25) This shows how he wil cherish Sohrab and how he finally atoned for his actions in pakistan. Now Amir can move on and have a strong relationship with his new son. -

After Hamid Karzai deafeated the taliban and exiled the last ing he " took office as interim predident in June 2002" (NY TImes 3). -

Amir rescues Sohrab
After escaping Assef, "they tumbled down the hallway, [with] Sohrab's little hand in mine." This shows how there relationships starts. This is how Amir atoned for all of his terrible actions that he committed to Hassan, and how he stops the guilt that he gained by hurting hassan. -
