We got to know a lot about the main character Elle Evens and her friend called Lee Flynn and his brother Noah Flynn. They sum up the friendship Elle and Lee got and what they have been through. Elle said goodbye to her mother, who died, at the age of 14. For the first 10-15 pages you got to know the whole backstory of her as a character, her friendship with Lee and her crush on Noah Flynn.

They spent the day at Lee`s house at the pool, and they tried to figure out what they are going to do on the carnival fundriser.

The friendship rules

Elle and Lee made some best friend rules when they were 7 years such as ice cream always can be used as an excuse when you have done something wrong. Another rule is that the family of the opposite best friend is not ok in another way than friends.

First day of school

Her pants ripped, and she needed to wear her ninth-grade skirt on an eleventh-grade body. Everyone was looking at her and Toppin touches her "ladybum" as she calls it. Lee tries to beat him, but then Noah came and helped them.

Saturday night, Carnival and the kissing booth

This was a crazy night as well, No one wanted to kiss Lee but then a beautiful girl came and kissed him and then they started dating. The OMG girls was mad at Elle for not putting Noah Flynn in the kissing booth, so they wanted to take revenge on her. They sat her in the kissing booth but then Noah Flynn came and kissed her.

The drive in the rain, the same night

After the carnival Lee was going to hang out with Rachel (the girl from the kissing booth) so Elle decided to walk home in the rain with just her shorts and t-skirt. Noah pulls up on her side and used his mom to get her to accept the ride home. They pulled over to a romantic gazebo where Elle kissed Noah.

The ride home

Lee was going to give Elle a ride home from school but when she walked out of the school Noah said that Lee could not give her a ride after all. Noah said Elle can take a ride with him instead. She refused to be “one of his makeup girls” and said that she will run home the 5 miles.

The party at the Flynn`s

Elle and Lee was on Noah`s crazy high school party. Elle got very wasted and she got help from Noah before she initiated skinny dipping in the pool.

Waking up in Noah`s bed

Elle was very wasted the night before at the crazy party at Flynn`s house. She waked up in Noah`s bed. Lee makes fun of her hangover and has made her some hangover food.

The beach party

This is the one night that teenagers gets wasted on a beach. Elle get harassed by a creep called Warren and then Noah get in to fix this. Elle gets mad about this because Noah beat down Warren. Elle walks away and Noah walked with her and asked her to get in the car before he confesses his love for her and wants to show her his special place.

The Hollywood sign, the same day

Noah takes Elle with him to the Hollywood sign to show her his special place. They sleep over at the Hollywood sign. This is not allowed but is very amazing.

October - Mars

Elle and Noah have a secret relationship without Lee knowing. They flirt for months and hide it for Lee. They ride Noah’s motorbike all around in Miami, go to the beach and flirt in the library. Later in Mars, Elle and Lee go dancing like they always did before and talk about why they have not been hanging the last 3-5 months. Elle gets the chance to tell Lee about Noah but swept out.

April, Lee find out about the relationship

It get to the point where Lee got to find out that they had a secret relationship. Elle falls in the garage and hits her face, Lee saw them together and thought that it was Noah that have hit Elle in the face. Lee and Elle talk, and she get another opportunity to tell him that they are together but she get to scared again so some minutes later Lee catches Elle and Noah kissing in the room. Lee drives away from Elle and his brother and Elle chooses Lee and the friendship over her boyfriend.

Elle used the rest of April and a lot of May to figure out how to make up whit Lee. She tries the rules #7 which Is the ice cream. He throws it in the garbage. It takes weeks before Lee finally forgets Elle and they start to plan their birthday party. After this, Noah drives to Elle`s father to apologize.

Prom

This was also a crazy night, the kissing booth was on the prom of one of the throwbacks, Lee takes on the mask and Rachel get up and kiss her. Noah tried to do the same, but Elle said no in front of all the people on the prom, she did not want to risk her friendship with Lee again, then she runs out of the room.

The costume party

It is their birthday party. Elle asks Lee about Noah and he says that he left for collage. Elle is going through the whole party with a lot of emotions when she sees all the other couples at the party.She talked to Lee and confesses her love for him. At first, he gets upset but then he wants to make her happy and tells her to get in the car so they can go home to his house. Suddenly when they are in the car, it is not Lee but Noah sitting there on the other hand of her.

June, July

Elle and Noah use the whole summer with each other before he is going to leave for collage in august. They took a ride on his motorbike around in Malibu again and went to surf.

August, one year later

It is the day that Noah is going to leave for collage, Elle is joining him to the airport to say goodbye.
