The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act
This act protects childrens online security, making it illegal to use a child information without parent permission until they are 13. Thus, protecting small childrens info. c-, although this law is extremely neccasary, children often don't identify on the internet as the age they are. So how is their information really being protected. https://cdt.org/insight/testimony-of-deirdre-mulligan-before-the-senate-committee-on-commerce-science-and-transportation-subcommittee-on-communications/ -
Electronic Communications Privacy Act
This revised the information from just making it illegal to tap hard phones, to making it illegal to tap digital and online information. So it would be keeping up with the evolving technology A-, I think this is completely necassary to be keeping up with technology, and protect our info through all of our devices. https://it.ojp.gov/default.aspx?area=privacy&page=1285 -
Cable Communications Policy Act
This policy protects the privacy of cable users. It requires cable companys to inform customers what information of their personal information is used. C, I believe it is clear and thouroughly protects the users but im not really sure why it is necassary for a cable company to have a privacy policy. http://privacy.med.miami.edu/glossary/xd_ccpa.htm -
Social Media
This protects employees social media information from employers. Some companys request the passwords to accounts, in order to ensure the employee is not shairng company secrets. A, I think this extremely important. I think taking passwords is a step to far, and what if the employee uses that information for all accounts, then the person has access. http://www.ncsl.org/research/telecommunications-and-information-technology/employer-access-to-social-media-passwords.aspx -
Obama's Privacy Bill of Rights
This provides better secuirty for American using the internet. Privacy, respect for context, and more easily understood proivacy policys. A, I think it is necassary for our government to take an action on online privacy. http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/2012/02/23/we-can-t-wait-obama-administration-unveils-blueprint-privacy-bill-rights -
Calif. Bus. & Prof. Code
Permits minors to access, and delete information. Also prohibits them from being directly marketed too. D, Im unclear on the purpose. I get what they are doing but not why, seems uneccasary. http://www.ncsl.org/research/telecommunications-and-information-technology/state-laws-related-to-internet-privacy.aspx
