(I DID NOT HAVE THE ACTUAL DATE)Christopher Columbus predicted that the world was round, and you wouldn't fall of the edge of the world. He also predicted that there was a great southern land out there which came to be Australia. No one believed him and everyone thought the world was flat and if you went to far away you will fall out of the world. But Columbus thought wrong. So people went far away and it turned out there was a great southern land and the world was spherical. -

Industrial Revolution
The Industrial Revolution was a bad time. Many people lost their jobs and became poor because more efficent objects were invented and took over jobs. This was also a good thing too because people got to spend more time with their family and friends. -
The discovery of Australia
In 1770 Captain James Cook discovered Australia. He discovered the east coast and he named it Botany Bay. -
The arrival in Sydney
Cpt Arthur Phillip arrived in Australia at Sydeny Cove and created the penal settlement, New South Wales. This was a good thing because Britain was too crowded and they needed a fresh start. -

A more developed country
During this time Australia had become a more developed country. Transport and communication had improved. More machines came in, but since more efficient objects came in it caused the two most popular colonies to start a rivalry. NSW and Victoria had rivalry. -
Van Diemens Land was colonised
When Austraila was first found they had Van Diemens land (Tasmainia)as a part of New South Wales. But then in 1825 they made Van Diemens Land it's our colony -

During this time NSW took up most of Australia. It was a big colony. -

The Northern Territory
From 1825 to 1911 the Northern Territory(NT) did not a final decision on where it was meant to be. The NT was first apart of NSW then it was apart of south Austraila. -
Western Austraila
Western Austraila was established. It became a penal colony. Finally after a couple of years the other half of Australia became a penal colony -
Port Arthur
In 1830 Port Arthur was established in Van Diemens Land. -
South Austraila was colonised
In 1836 a new colony was established which was South Australia. -
Gold Rush
In 1851 people discovered many pieces of gold in Baththurst and then many people came to Austraila to find gold. Many people were poor and they came to Australia to try and become rich. -
Parliaments
By 1859 every single colony had their own parliament. -
The Population Increased
From 1861 the population of Australia keeps increasing. Since the gold rush many people came to live in Australia for new land and to become rich. -

American Civil War
During the American Civil War, America won their Independence and they didn't allow Britain to send their convicts there. So Britain had to find a new colony which was Austraila. -
