    Jayavarman II dies and Jayavarman III succeeds him
    Jayavarman II was known to have laid the foundations of the Khmer empire when he had declared himself devaraja. He was succeeded by Jayavarman III who did not have a big impact on Khmer

    Civil war between Suryavarman I and Jayaviravarman.

    Civil war between Suryavarman I and Jayaviravarman.
    King had died so Suryavarman I and Jayaviravarman both wanted to claim the throne so they both went to war for an extended period of time.

    Suryavarman I became uncontested king of the Khmer Empire
    After the civil war with Jayaviravarman, Suryavarman II came out victorious and now was the king of the Khmer Empire. The war itself took quite a long time and was prolonged for 8 years.

    Angkor Wat was built

    Built by Suryavarman II and finished by Jayavarman VII. It is regarded as one of the largest religious monuments and was originally a Hindu temple that transformed into a Buddhist one.

    Jayarvarman VII rules which he extended the empire the most

    Jayavarman VII had extended the kingdom by being able to fend the Chams in his early reign and soon extending the kingdom to the north, Vientiane, and to the south, Kra Isthamus.

    Jayavarman VII previously had exacted revenge on Champa in 1190 and upon his death, he was succeeded by Indravarman.

    Theravada Buddhism becomes main religion
    King Jayavarman VII sent his son Tamilinda to Sri Lanka so that he may become a Buddhist monk and learn Theravada Buddhism. He then came back and promoted it to Cambodia

    They were besieged by the Siamese King Unthong and soon after, Khmer was replaced with Ayutthayan princes.

    Ponhea Yat ruled Khmer

    Ponhea Yat was last king of Khmer and was able to rule to 1463 as when the country had to flee from the Thais in 1431, they stayed at a place which is known know as Phnom Penh.

    End of Khmer Empire
    Thais had invaded Khmer and the Khmers were forced to move to another location. They also suffered many economic and ecological problems that contributed to the end of the Khmer empire (e.g. breaking down of irrigation systems and army expenses)
