  • Jan 1, 1010

    The new king of the empire

    Suryavarman wins the civil war and becomes the new king of the Khmer empire.
  • Jan 1, 1113

    Dharanindravarman's mysterious death

    Dharanindravarman dies and is believed to have been murdered by his great nephew, Suryavarman II who was the next heir to the throne.
  • Jan 1, 1132

    Attempted invasion of Vietnam

    The Khmer Empire attempt to invade Vietnam to expand but fail.
  • Jan 1, 1150

    Suryavarman's death and his successor

    Suryavarman II dies from a military protest against the Cham and is then succeeded by Dharanindravarman II.
  • Jan 1, 1177

    The Cham invasion of the Khmer capital

    The Cham take over the Khmer capital and execute the government of the capital.

  • Jayavarman II's death and his successor

    Jayavarman II dies after his 48 year reign and is succeeded by his son, Jayavarman III

  • Jayavarman III's death and his successor

    Jayavarman III dies 27 years after his reign and is succeeded by his cousin, Indravarman.

  • Jayavarman V's reign and his impact

    Jayavarman V succeeds Rajendravarman II and renames the empire to the Khmer Empire.

  • Declaration of independence of Jayavarman II

    Jayavarman declares he wil stray away from the Srivijaya empire's system and creates a new kingdom ruled by himself.
