Background history
Khadijah, came from a noble family. Her father Khuwaylid was one of the most honoured leaders of their tribe until he was killed in battle.
Her mother was a distant relative of Prophet Muhammad. Her husband (before Prophet Mohammad) had also died, leaving her a very wealthy woman. -

Her Noble Life
Khadijah has always helped the poor, Although the society in which Khadija was born was a very male chauvinistic one, she earned two titles: Ameerat-Quraysh, Princess of Quraysh, and al-Tahira, the Pure One. It is said that she used to feed and clothe the poor, assist her relatives financially and even provide for the marriage of those of her kin, who could not otherwise have had means to marry. -

Before Marrying Muhammad
Khadija married three times and had children from all her marriages. While the order of her marriages is debated, it is generally believed that she first married atiq ibn 'A'idh ibn' Abdullah Al-Makhzumi and second Abu Hala Malak ibn Nabash ibn Zarrara ibn at-Tamimi. To her second husband she bore two sons, who were both given what were usually feminine names, Hala and Hind. To husband Atiq, Khadija bore a daughter named Hindah. Both the marriages left Khadija as a widow. -

Becoming the first follower of Islam
when Muhammad reported his first revelation from the Angel Gabriel , Khadija was the first person to convert to Islam. After his experience in the cave of Hira, Muhammad returned home, pleading for her to cover him with a blanket. He described the encounter to Khadija, who comforted him with the words: "Allah would surely protect him from any danger, and would never allow anyone to revile him as he was a man of peace and reconciliation and always extended the hand of friendship to all. -

Marriage of Khadijah and Muhammad
When Prophet Mohammad was still a young man, she entrusted him with her wealth, asking him to trade with it in Syria on her behalf.
At that time, he was already well known for his honesty, truthfulness and trustworthiness. He returned from Syria after having made a large profit for Khadijah.
Khadijah decided that he would make the best of the husbands, even though many of the most important nobles of the Quraysh tribe had already proposed to her and had been refused. -

After Marriage
For the next fifteen years they lived happily together, and Khadijah bore several children. -

Death Of Khadijah Bint Khuwaylid
Khadijah died in "Ramadan of the year 10 after the Prophethood",i.e., in April or May 620 CE. Muhammad later called this tenth year "the Year of Sorrow", as his uncle and protector Abu Talib also died at this time. Khadija is said to have been about sixty-five years old at the time of her death.She was buried in Jannat al-Mu'alla cemetery, in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.
