KFC, or Kentucky Fried Chicken was founded 88 years ago in 1930. -
It all begins at "Sanders Court & Cafe"
Colonel Sanders opened his first restaurant in the small front room of a gas station in Corbin, Kentucky. -
Started from the bottom, and now we're kinda here!
The Sanders Court and Cafe was the first one to be listed in Duncan Hines' "Adventures in Good Eating." -
Too hot to handle!
Shortly after being awarded by Duncan Hines' "Adventures in Good Eating." A fire started in the building and destroyed most of the restaurant. Also while rebuilding the restaurant, in the area, a motel was built next to it. -
Pressure in kitchen
After the terrible fire, the Pressure Cooker was introduced to Colonel Sanders and he used it to make better chickens. -
OG Chicken
The recipe for the very famous chicken has been made. -
Chicken with motel.
The motel from before opened and and became a motel complex adjacent with Colonel Sander's restaurant. -
You get a chicken, that place gets a chicken, everybody gets a chicken!
Colonel Sanders began actively franchising his chicken business by traveling from town to town and cooking batches of chicken for restaurant owners and employees. -
Tons of chicken to be made
In 1955 a highway was built passing by Corbin. Colonel Sanders decides to go on the road to sell his Secret Recipe to restaurants. After that, he now sells chicken in buckets. In 1960, he has sold 190 KFC franchises and 400 franchise units in the U.S. and Canada. -
Goodbye Cafe, hello KFC!
Colonel decided to sell his "Sanders and Court Cafe." He made a new restaurant named KFC. -

After a local KFC television advertisement had featured Arizona franchisee Dave Harman licking his fingers in the background -

Early official slogans included "North America's Hospitality Dish." -

Chicken for Mexico
KFC was the first fast food restaurant opened in Mexico, in 1963 in Monterrey. By 2017, there were 341 outlets in the country. -
International Chicken
Kentucky Fried Chicken has more than 600 franchised outlets in the United States, Canada and the first overseas outlet, in England. -
Chicken on T.V.
KFC began to advertise nationwide from 1966, with a US television budget of US$4 million. -

In 1969, KFC hired its first national advertising agency, Leo Burnett. -

Pokemon with Chicken.
Between November 1998 and January 2000, KFC US teamed with Nintendo, Game Freak and 4 Kids Entertainment in a Pokémon tie-in. Pokémon themed promotional days were held, Pokémon Beanie Babies were sold, and Pokémon toys were given away free with children's meals. -
