    The OG network

    ARP (Auto-radiopuhelin) was considered the most successful OG network, as they managed to reach 100% population coverage by 1978, with only 140 base stations in Finland between 1971 and 2000. Due to their success, the OG network, ARP, became operational in Tokyo, Japan, as well as many European networks.
  • First handheld mobile phone call

    A handheld device, invented by Motorola, was used to make the first mobile phone call in 1973.

    Nordic Mobile Telephone (NMT), a 1G network, was introduced in 1981 due to the network becoming overly congested with high demand.

    The first ever commercial phone was introduced by Motorola, as they continued their streak by launching its DynaTac mobile phone to the market in 1983.
