    The Treaty of Versailles was signed on the 28th of June 1919. It was known as the war guilt cause which imposed harsh terms on Germany.

    Italy Enteres War on the Side of the Axis Powers
    Italy joined the Anti-Comintern Pact on November 6, 1937. On May 22, 1939, Germany and Italy signed the Pact of Steel, formalizing the Axis alliance. Finally, on September 27, 1940, Germany, Italy, and Japan signed the Tripartite Pact, which became known as the Axis alliance.

    Hitler threatened to launch an attack against Prague, the Czech capital if Czech President Emil Hacha did not agree to his demands. Hitler demanded free passage for German troops into Czech borders and her suceeded. The same day German troops entered the region and by evening Hitler had made a triumphant entry in Prague.

    Hitler Invaded Poland in September of 1939. The Soviet Union and Germany Fought against Poland in the war that is also known as the September campaign. The invasion of Poland marked the start of WWII and the attack ended with a Strong win for Germany and the Soviet Union. Heavy losses were made to Poland while only minor losses were made to the German army.

    Britain and France had sworn to defend Poland. Honoring these obligations, the two countries sent ultimatums to Hitler demanding his withdrawal from Poland. Hitler declined. On September 3, Prime Minister Chamberlain went to announce to the British people that their country had declared war on Germany the very next day.

    The Battle of Dunkirt was fought in Northern Frace. It was between the Allied forces and Germany. The Battle is famous for the evacuation carried out on the beaches of Dunkirt where more than 340,000 thousand soldigers boarded 800 boats. The alied forces would have suffered heavy loss but the evacuation allowed them to regroup and attack soon after.

    The Battle of Britain was fought for three weeks from the 10th of July to the 31st of october 1940. The Battle was fought in the UK aispace between the Allied forces and the Axis forces. 1,963 serviceable aircraft from the Britain forces were up against over 2500 aircraft from the Axis forces. The Battle was won by the British forces.

    Pearl Harbour Attack
    Waves of Japanese planes struck the US naval base at Pearl Harbour in Hawaii distroying half of the fleet. President Franklin D Rosevelt declared war on Germany the next day. The Allies had gained another powerful ally.

    The Battle of Midway was six months after the attack on Pearl Harbour. It was fought in Midway Atoll, between US forces and Japanese forces. Heavy losses were made oon both sides however the US forces came out with a decisive win.

    Operation Barbarossa was the code name for the German invasion on the Soviet Union and it lasted lasted 5 months. THe battle was fought in the eastern part of the USSR. THe soviet Union won parts of the battle however suffered heavy lossses in excess of 4 and a half million men.

    The Battle of Starlingrad lasted just over 5 months. It was foughtt between Germany and its allis against the Soviet Union. It was fought for the controll of of the cirty Starlingrad. The battle was won by the Soviet Union and is considered to be the turning point of WWII.

    The Landings at Normandy, dubbed "D-Day" was an allied invasion of the german occupied region of western europe. It was one of the biggest seaborne invasions in history and resulted in a decisive allied victory in which both sides had minor losses.

    The Battle of the bulge was an offencive Germany campaign against the Allied forces. The battle lasted over a month and was fought in between the borders of France, Germany and Belgium. The Allied forces won the battle with heavy looes to both sides

    German and Soviet forces surrendered to the western forces in late April in 1945. The Allied forces took hundreds of thousands of Axis prisoners. This was during the time when Hitler commited suicide.

    During the last days of the war in Italy, Dictator Benito Mussolini attempted to escape the advancing Allied Army by hiding in a German convoy. His convoy was searched and he war found and taken as prisoner. Mussolini and 15 other fascists leaders were hung that day.

    Hitler Commits Suicide
    Hitler commited Suicide by gunshot in his Führerbunker in Berlin. His wife Eva committed suicide with him by ingesting cyanide. That afternoon, in accordance with Hitler's prior instructions, their remains were carried up the stairs through the bunker's emergency exit, doused in petrol, and set alight.

    V.E. Day known as victory in Europe day. The day is a celebration and a public holiday to recongnise the surrender of the German Armed forces.

    Atomic Bomb Dropped on Hiroshima
    The United States drpped atomic bombs on two cities in Japan including Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Japan was called to surrender however dicined. Thoes two bombs are still the only time nuclear warfare has been used. The bombs in the first four months killed hundreds of thousands of people due to the affects of radiation burn. The Attack was sucessful as it played a part in the surrender of japan that was only days after the bombings.

    After Japan surrendered the hostillities of WWI were over. THe surrender by japan was made bacause their Navy was incapeable of conducting offencive operations and an allied attact was forthcomming. Japanese foreign affairs minister Mamoru Shigemitsu signed the Japanese Instrument of Surrender.
