Mussolini wanted to expand Italy. Attacked Ethiopia and in 1936 Ethiopia was taken over. -
Civil War in Spain
Francisco Franco and part of Spanish army rebelled. 3,000 Americans fought in the army against Franco, hoping it would help stop fascism. Franco backed by Soviet Union, Hitler, and Mussolini. In 1939, Franco won and became a dictator. -
