The March on Rome
The March on Rome was important because it symbolized Italy's support of defiance of the paris peace contract. Also, it led to the rise of Mussolini in power, as he had threatened to take over the government, and he used violence. In order to seize control of the state, he abolished all parties and took away the right to vote. -
Mussolini Rise to Power
Mussolini rose to power and he went against the Paris Peace treaty as he believed in a fascist government, annexation of more land. This led to the Second World War because Mussolini went against the pact and this showed that people supported a rebellion. -
Japan takes over Manchuria
With strong influences of the zaibatsu, who were powerful business leaders, led to Japan seizing Chinese arsenals in Manchuria. They began to take over the entirety of Manchuria, and Japan blamed China for the murder of the Japanese officer in Manchuria and boycotts for goods. This caused the Second World War because it led to Japan dropping out of the League of Nations. -
Hitler Rise to Power
Hitler rose to power as he tried to bring Germany back to being the strongest and most powerful. He was able to show people that he is better than everyone, as he was unstoppable with no oppositions. For example, Hitler created the SS army, which went against the Paris Peace Treaty because Germany was not allowed to have an army. -
Mussolini Attacked Ethiopia
Mussolini attacked Ethiopia and they took patriotic pride in the new colonial war. This led to the war because it showed their willingness to expand, and it went against the Paris Peace Treaty. As a result, the League of Nations did not do anything about the attack on Ethiopia and did nothing of substance to punish Mussolini, until he later withdrew Italy from the league. -
The Spanish Civil War
A civil war had broke out in Spain and the country had previously been in turmoil as a revolution deposed the king of Spain, and later created a democratic republic. The Republicans (leftists) won and the nationalists (rightists) began a rebellion, which later was a civil war. This civil war was considered to be a "dress rehearsal" for World War II because Germany and Italy had supplied weapons, money, and Italy sent 50,000 soldiers to help Franco as well as the nationalists. (rightists) -
Japan Invades China
Japan invaded China, which was an assault on Japanese troops. The overall goal was to takeover China, which is a cause of the Second World War because Japan was trying to expand their boundaries and gain more land, while showing others they are the best. Invading China is an act of aggression and is considered to be the start of World War II, leading the Untied States to later join. -
The "night of (broken) glass"
Hitler dismissed the Jews from public office, including universities, and civil service. Jews were stripped of their citizenship and on the night of November 9-10, synagogues and Jewish-owned businesses throughout Germany were attacked by German forces and by mobs. This was a cause of the war as Jews were hated and it gave Hitler more power to rule over others. -
Hitler Takes Over Czechoslovakia
Hitler began to expand Germany, despite the restrictions of the Paris Peace treaties. He showed others how he was unstoppable, as no one acted to oppose him, granting him the ability to do anything he wants. Also, he betrayed the Munich pack by taking over all of Czechoslovakia, when he was only supposed to invade Sudetenland. -
Germany Invades Poland
The USSR signed a nonaggression pact with Germany and the secret protocol of the treaty was an agreement to divide up Poland between them, if their territory was never conquered. This led to the war as two days later, Britain and France declared war on Germany. This showed how Germany with Hitler in power had the ability to invade Poland and be a direct cause of the war.
