    Treaty of Versailles
    The Treaty of Versailles was a peace settlement signed by Germany after world war one had ended in 1918. The treatys intention was for Germany to be made to pay for the damage world war one had caused. Some of the points in the treaty were:
    - Germany had to pay 6,600 million for the damage caused by the war
    - Germany had to accept the Blame for starting world war one
    - Germany was forbidden to have submarines or an air force

    The Treaty of Munich was a settlement reached by Germany, Great Britain, France, and Italy, saying that if Hitler was allowed to take over Czechoslovakia and promise not to invade any other countries, then Britain and France would not stop Germany from doing so.

    Adolf hitler desired more land to expand Germany. Britain told Germany that they have no right to invade these countries, but Hitler used the Treaty of Versailles as an excuse for Germany's right to take land where German-speaking people lived.

    The Tripartite Pact was a treaty signed by Imperial Japan, Nazi Germany, and Fascist Italy, forming the Axis Powers of World War II. This meant that Japan, Germany and Italy had formed an alliance, and agreed to help each other if they were ever attacked.

    Attack on Pearl Harbour
    Attack on Pearl Harbour was the surprise military strike performed by the Imperial Japanese Navy, in an attempt to destroy the United States' naval power even before an official announcement of war was given.
    Americans were so outraged by the attack, that the U.S. declared war on Japan the following day, officially bringing the United States into World War II.

    The Japanese occupation of Singapore in World War II took place from 1942 to 1945, following the fall of the British colony. Singapore is located on the sea lanes that join the Pacific and Indian Oceans. It is important in trade routes, and the japanese needed to control that route and prevent the British from keeping a base there

    The Battle of Midway was one of the most important naval battles of World War II. On June 4th, aircraft from four Japanese aircraft carriers attacked and severely damaged the US base on Midway. The Japanese plan was to lure the United States' aircraft carriers into a trap, and also occupy Midway as part of an overall plan to extend their defensive perimeter.

    The Battle of the Bulge was the last major Nazi offensive against the Allies in World War Two. The battle was a last ditch attempt by Hitler to split the Allies in two in their drive towards Germany and destroy their ability to supply themselves.

    Adolf Hitler committed suicide by gunshot in his Führerbunker in Berlin. He realized that he was going to lose the war and face the punishment of his crimes, so he killed himself instead of having to face the consequences and suffer.

    Nazi Germany surrendered on May 7th 1945, therefore bringing World War Two to an end. Germany was left with no choice but to surrender, as:
    - their capital city (Berlin) was occupied by Soviet troops
    - their armies were out of ammunition, food and fuel
    - Germany had no leader, as hitler commited suicide. This means the soldiers don't get supplied

    Victory in Europe Day officially announced the end of World War Two in Europe. On Monday May 7th German General Jodl signed the unconditional surrender document that formally ended war in Europe.

    On August 6, 1945, the United States used a massive, atomic weapon against Hiroshima, Japan. The atomic bomb flattened the city, killing tens of thousands of civilians. The purpose of the atomic bomb was for Japan to surrender WW2.

    Just days after the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, The U.S dropped another bomb in Nagasaki, the last major act of World War 2. Japan didn't have much time to recover from the last bombing, but the U.S was determined. The atomic bomb in Nagasaki finally resulted in Japan's surrender.

    After the atomic bomb explosions that devastated Japan, they had not many options left but to surrender. The atomic bombs had a big effect on the country and on the production of war materials such as ammunition and bombs, so Japan would have struggled to fight on. If Japan didn't surrender, it was also likely that America would drop more bombs on them until they did.
