    Hitler Became a Dictator

    After receiving two-thirds of the majority of votes, Hitler was able to suspend the German constitution. On the 23rd of March 1933 a significant event in German history, known as the Enabling Act, made Hitler dictator of Germany. This allowed Hitler to be free from all legislative and constitutional constraints.

    Second Sino-Japanese War

    The Second Sino-Japanese War was predominantly between the Republic of China and the Empire of Japan. This was caused due to a Marco Polo Bridge Incident.
  • Beginning of World War II

    World War II was a global war which included the majority of the world's countries which later formed two opposing alliances known as the Axis and Allies.

    The Invasion of Poland

    The Invasion of Poland was when Germany invaded Poland which ultimately marked the beginning of World War II.
  • Pearl Harbour

    On the 7th of December, 1941, more than 350 Japanese aircraft made an attack on the US naval base situated in Pearl Harbour. The following day, December 8th, the US declared war on Japan. The US was forced into a two-front war on December 11 when Nazi Germany and Japan Axis Ally declared war on the US. The US bombed two of Japan's cities and the Soviet Union invaded Manchuria which led to Japan's surrender. This ended WWII across the world.
  • D-Day

    The allies invaded Normandy and gained a huge victory which became the turning point for WWII. 2 500 Americans fell on D-Day on Omaha Beach becoming one of the most tragic moments during the war. This event was the beginning of the end for Germans (mainly Hitler) as Germany had to fight a two-front war.
  • The Death of Hitler

    Adolf Hitler died in his underground bunker after taking cyanide and shooting himself in the head. His wife Eva was also found dead in the bunker due to cyanide poisoning. Hitler was not declared dead until 1956. About a week after Hitler's death, Germany surrendered to the Allies on the 8th of May 1945.
  • End of World War II

    Although the war had officially ended in the Far East when Germany surrendered to the Allies, Japan continued for a few more months. After the US dropped atomic bombs on Japanese cities, Nagasaki and Hiroshima, Japan's surrender was announced on a personal radio address on the 14th August 1945. On September 2nd, 1945, Japan formally surrenders thus ending World War II around the world.
