    This was a Proclamation created by President George Washington to say that the country would not be apart of any wars between other countries. This was done so to try and prevent war with the country which would not be good for the country that has not been independent for too long.
  • Jay Treaty

    Jay Treaty
    John Jay's Treaty was signed by the representative of the United States and Great Britain. The purpose of the treaty was supposed to settle previous disputes with countries after America's independence.

    Washington's farewell address warned against the political parties and how they can affect and tear are country apart. He also promoted keeping a strong national government, staying neutral in war if you're able too, and to promote patriotism.

    The Chesapeake-Leopard Affair occurred when the British attacked American Frigate Chesapeake. During this time 3 Americans who were impressed and 1 British soldier boarded the Chesapeake to escape the British.

    The Embargo act was create by Thomas Jefferson to stop the delivery of goods to the war bound French and British. This act at first only banned imports but later banned exports. The Embargo was reappealed because the Embargo act was hurting only the United States. The Embargo was never done before and would be continued multiple times for years to come.

    The Impressment of Sailors was very important because it was basically treason. The British ships would take sailors and force them to join their navy. This was considered kidnapping which would be an act of war.

    The War Hawks main purpose were to go to war. They were a fierce group of people that wanted to cause war and devastation and any nation they seemed fit.

    During this date, Tecumseh had died in battle. The important thing about his death is that his confederacy, which was fighting against the British, had pretty much dismantled after the fall of their leader.
  • Hartford Convention

    Hartford Convention
    This Convention was used to discuss the economic affects after the war of 1812. There were 26 delegates and half were from Massachusetts. This Convention was not public news. They also discussed the purpose of the constitution and how they could fix their country.
  • Treaty of Ghent

    Treaty of Ghent
    This treaty was on Christmas Eve and was used to stop the fighting and war with Great Britain. This treaty was ratified by the US Congress in 1815.
  • Battles of New Orleans

    Battles of New Orleans
    This was the last battle before the war of 1812 ended. Even after the signing of the treaty they still were fighting. The British invaded Americans but thankfully failed since that lost would stop the war between the country.
