World War I led to millions of 10 million deaths and about 20 million people suffering. The traumatic experience of the war highlighted the need for the protection of human rights since many people have faced violence and injuries. The United States tried to make a difference by joining the Allies in 1917 to provide military support and help make a difference during the war. -
Formation of the League of Nations
This happened after World War I, the League of Nations tried to create peace and prevent future conflicts by collecting people who were affected by the war. This shows that protecting human rights is essential for global stability and to help solve each economic issue and social issue which eventually led to a 'Peace conference' so that the League of Nations tried to avoid conflict. -
The Great Depression
The economic crises of the 1920s caused chaos of poverty and suffering around the world. This proves the need for social and economic rights. Millions of people lost their jobs, homes, and children which emphasizes that human rights include the right to work. The League Of Nations saw how much they were suffering and decided to help countries work together to try and solve each economic issue, which has worked out a little bit and has made changes in a slow pace. -
World War II
There were many problems caused during World War II, including the Holocaust (involving racism by Hitler against Jews, anyone dark-skinned, and people with disabilities) which shocked most of the world with his treatment of people who were different. These events showed the consequence of ignoring human rights. This made the UDHR created after World War II to help protect people's rights and allow them to be treated fairly, which made a huge impact. -
Adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights
The world was shocked by the abuse going on around the world due to racism, economic wages, and people getting different privileges. The United Nations adopted the UDHR to try and make a difference. They did this to try to support and prioritize human rights that belong to everyone. This made a huge step toward human rights protection, helping people with different skin tones or religions have more privileges.
