    The Battle of Britain
    In December of 1940 the German Luftwaffe (German Airforce) attempted to gain control of Britain. They bombed Navel and Air bases along with harbors, communication centers and war industries. However because of Britains superior radar systems they saw the attacks coming and they fought back with force. However because of this Germany struck again this time targeting British cities. Britain quickly retaliated and built their strength back up and fighting the Luftwaffe with force.
  • Attack on the Soviet Union

    Attack on the Soviet Union
    Over 3 million Nazi Soldiers invaded the USSR in 1941. The battle stretched 1800 miles and 2 million Russian soldiers were captured. The invasion proceeded until German were stopped because of the hard Russian winter which they were not prepared for. In this time a counterstrike formulated by Russia in December ended the nazis year in despair.
  • Pearl Harbor

    Pearl Harbor
    On December 7, 1941, Japanese aircrafts shot fire at a U.S. navel base in Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. During the attack more than 350 aircrafts were destroyed, 18 ships were sunk, and more than 3,500 Americans were killed. On the same day the Japanese also attached The Philippines and made advances on Malaya. Later they invaded the Dutch East Indies and many Pacific Islands.
  • Battle of Stalingrad

    Battle of Stalingrad
    In 1942 Germany attempted to take over the city of Stalingrad in Russia. The city is named after the dictator at the time Joseph Stalin which made the attempted encapturement even more disrespectful. Russia considered this battle to be the greatest battle in their patriotic war and the turning point for Russia because this victory prevented Germany from getting any further into the USSR. This battle is considered on of the most gruesome battles in history and had nearly 2 million casualties.
  • Liberation of Auschwitz

    Liberation of Auschwitz
    On January 27, 1945, Auschwitz concentration camp was liberated by soviet troops. More than 7000 prisoners were freed from the nazi concentration camp which if they had stayed would be continued to be abused, starved, and most likely murdered. It is estimated that before the camp was liberated about 1.1 million prisoners were killed in Auschwitz.

    Germany Surrenders in World War 2
    In April of 1945 Russian and American soldiers met near Torgau, Germany to formulate a plan to invade Berlin. They pushed through all defenses in their way and the Soviets ultimately captured Berlin. This ended the Third Reich and caused Aldof Hitler to commit suicide. Unconditionally Germany surrendered unconditionally on May 8 (May 7th on the western front).
