    On the 1st of September 1939 Germany invaded Poland. They did it to expand their land so they decided to go after Poland. They had already concurred Austria and Czechoslovakia without anyone stopping them. It's one of the events that started WWII

    On the 3rd of September 1939 Britain and France declared war on Germany. They declared war on Germany because they had both signed a treaty of mutual assistance with Poland earlier that year.

Only 50,000 or less were expected to escape but 338,226 men were evacuated

    From the 10th of July 1940 until the 31st of October the battle of Britain occurred. The Germans were planning an invasion of Britain, known as Operation Sealion. The German airforce was supposed to destroy the British airforce but instead the RAF defeated the German airforce. German planes bombed Britain persistently throughout the rest of the war, but they never tried to invade it again.

    On the 27th of September 1940 the Tripartitle Pact was signed. The Tripartite Pact was signed between Italy, Germany and Japan. It was used as an anti American alliance, that stated that each country would aid any of the others that was attacked by the USA.

They needed control of the Channel and the skies over the Channel and the beaches. They knew after the Battle of Britain that they didn't have better air forces and they'd wouldn't likely be able pull it off.

    On the 10th of April The Siege of Toburk started. It lasted for 241 days and ended on the 27th of November 1941. The German forces made two serious attempts to capture Tobruk To take the port and allow the Germans to resupply Rommel. Tobruk consisting of the Australian with British and Indian Troops. The Germans had suffered a setback when they defended the port. They were called the rats of Toburk because they were called rats by German radio propagandists and made that their name.

    On the 22nd of June Operation Barbarossa happened. Operation Barbarossa was the code-name for the German invasion of the Soviet Union. It was planned for the 15th of May 1941, but was postponed for up to 6 weeks. Germany inflicted damage on the Russians but Stalin's supply of fresh reinforcements was overwhelming. 25 million Russians died. And Germany ran out of men and supplies.

    On the 7th of December 1941 Japan bombed Pearl Harbor. Japanese planes attacked the United States Naval Base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii Territory. It was an attack that was suppose to make America not want to enter the war. However since they bombed the wrong areas the Americas could recover from the attacked and declared war against Japan the next day. The bombing killed more than 2,300 Americans.

Six months after the attack on Pearl Harbor, the United States defeated Japan in one of the most decisive naval battles of World War. An important turning point in the Pacific campaign, the victory allowed the United States and its allies to move into an offensive position.

    First Battle of El Alamein

    From July 1st 1942 till the 22nd of July 1942 the First Battle of El Alamein happened. The Germans an Italians formed a line to the west while the English, Australians and New Zealanders formed a line in the east. Montgomery had his British troops go towards the south, causing Rommel to have to move troops there. Rommel didnt have enough gas to defend all three points, so he had to retreat.

    From the 17th of July 1942 till the 2nd of February 1943 the Battle of Stalingrad happened. It was a five-month battle between German and Soviet forces for the important industrial city of Stalingrad. In February 1943, despite direct orders from Hitler forbidding it, Field Marshal Friedrich Paulus surrendered the German forces to the Red Army.

    From the 23rd of October 1942 till the 4th of November 1942 the Second Battle of El Alamein happened.The Germans wanted to break through the British lines with the ultimate goal of capturing Alexandria, Egypt and the Suez Canal.

    The British goal was the destruction of Rommel's army.

    D-Day is code for the day of the Battle. Normandy, was where the Allied Armies landed in France.

    The weather was bad on the day of the attacks however but the British Weather experts, found a small opening, that would be good for the Invasions.
    The German's weren't prepared for the invasion, and also due to the Allies Plan, to fake the Germans into believing the landings were to be at the Port De Calais.in France, which was the shortest distance between France and England.

    From the 16th of December till the 25th of January 1945 the Battle of the Bulge happened. This battle was the last desperate gamble by Germany,to halt the western allies advance into Germany. It failed and Germany lost the last bit of reserves the Germans had.

    On the 28th of April 1945 Mussolini was captured and executed. It occured in the final days of World War II in Europe. His mistress Clara Petacci was also executed. They both attempted to escape but were captured as they attempted to flee to Switzerland. They were executed by Italian Communists in the small village of Giulino di Mezzegra in northern Italy.

    On the 30th of April Hitler committed suicide. He did this up in a bunker under his headquarters in Berlin, Adolf by swallowing a cyanide capsule and shooting himself in the head. Germany soon after surrendered to the Allied forces ending WWII

    On the 7th of May 1945 Germany forces surrendered. Germany didn't have a choice, The Allies demanded unconditional surrender from the Axis nations. Germany were going to loose the war. Berlin had fallen and most of Germany was in the hands of the Allies. The navy and air force was almost wiped out and the cities of Germany were destroyed including the factories. Germany surrendered and the war was over.

Many other people also got sick from wounds and radiation poisoning. The dropping of the atomic bomb on Japan marked the end of World War II

The Soviet Union put more than 1 million Soviet soldiers into Japanese-occupied Manchuria, northeastern China, to take on the 700,000-strong Japanese army.

    On the 9th of August 1945 America drooped an Atomic bomb dropped on Nagasaki.This bombing occurred after the bombing in Hiroshima. The explosion was the equivalent force of 22,000 tons of TNT and the number killed is estimated at anywhere between 60,000 and 80,000. This bombing caused resulting finally in Japan’s unconditional surrender.

    On the 24th of October 1945 the United Nations is born.The United Nations was formed after WWII and because the League of Nations had failed. Members of the League learnt that things needed to be changed so that it wouldn't fail. Germany was included in the organisation instead of leaving them out and changed the voting structure as well. It was created to stop war from occurring again.
