Battle of Coral Sea
This was a four day aircraft battle between the Japanese and Allies. It was the first battle in which aircrafts engaged eachother. This battle made way for the Battle of Midway. -
Battle of Midway
This was a three day battle and turning point in the war. The Japanese sent a majority of their Navy towards Midway island where they lost four fleet carriers and the U. S. only lost one, the Yorktown. The Japanese soon after retreated after losing essential air support. -
Battle of Guadacanal
This was an American invasion that was intended to push the Japanese off the island. The US successfully did this and resulted in the end of said battle on February 9, 1943. As a result they gained the Guadacanal airbase. -
