Karl Heinrich Marx was born on May 5, 1818 to Henrietta Pressburg and Heinrich Marx. He was born in Trier, Germany as the oldest son and the second eldest child of nine. Marx's father was a successful lawyer and his mother was a housewife.

Trail of Tears
Under the presidency of Andrew Jackson many Natives were threatened by many laws passed by state governments, such as Cherokee Nation v. Georgia (1831). White settlers would do anything to obtain the land of Natives resulting in theft of property and mass murder. Natives were forced to trek to land west of the Mississippi in chains and without food, tons of Natives died because of this forced relocation. This is important because it shows how ignorant they were to the people.

Irish Potato Famine
The Irish Potato Famine occurred when a fungus called Phytophthora Infestans entered the soil spreading extremely quickly and ruining the majority of Ireland's potato crop. This infestation caused about one million to die from starvation and even more to leave for another country as refugees. This was an important time in history because of the million of immigrants that moved the US as refugees which helped benefit America's economy.

The communist Manifesto was a short book published in 1848 and written by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels. The book was about how capitalism would self destruct. After the election of Abraham Lincoln many southern states left the United States of America to form the Confederate States of America. After being deported from Belgium and France he resided in London where he was refused a citizenship. After it was published Marx spent the majority of the rest of his life working on the other volumes of Das Kapital. He soon died after the first volume Das Kapital was published.

Thomas Edison Invents Lightbulb
Thomas Edison was credited as the first person to invent the lightbulb. His patent included," a carbon filament or strip coiled and connected...to platina contact wires." His prototype was improved and he found out that a piece of carbonized bamboo filament could last 1200 hours.

Karl Marx dies
Marx died of pleurisy which was is an inflammation of the tissues that surround the lungs and chest cavity. Initially his gravestone was a blank stone. Later in 1954, the Communist party of Great Britain raised a large tombstone, which had a bust of Marx. The stone also had quotes from The Communist Manifesto and also Theses on Feuerbach.
