Before Kalpana started school, she didn’t have a name, her parents called her Monty and Kalpana chose her name( Kalpana) because it means “Idea”.As a child, Kalpana had an interest for flying and space, she frequently visited her local flying club with her father and at school she showed her interest for aviation.Her school name was Tagore Baal Niketan Senior secondary School ,Karnal Haryana.

Did you know that Columbia STS107 was a rundown spacecraft?It was not in a good condition.It was suppose to finish it’s 28th use when Kalpana came in.It was not such a good choice in my opinion.On the mission , the crew finished may (almost 80) experiments on board.Mint) -

Death
Kalpana died when the space craftcolumbia disentigrated over Texas on 1st February,2003,killing all seven crew members.It is said that this was caused by a huge pice of foam that was used to launch the space craft, that pice of foam hit the wing, knocking the heat panel off.This meant hat eat crept into the wing and in re-entry.
