Columbus Landing
On October 12, 1492 Christopher Columbus tried to sail to China but ended up landing in what he thought were the Indies but was actually Haiti. He made three other voyages. In 1493-94 he went to Domenica, Hispanola, Guadeloupe, Antiqua, Puerto Rice, Cuba and Jamaica. In his third voyage he went to St. Vincent, Grenada, Trinidad, Margarita and Venzeula. IN his fourth voyage he went to St. Lucia, Martinique, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama. -
Jamestown, VA
In May 1607, a ship of 144 English settlers made their way to the Colonies. They landed at Cape Henry which is now known as Virginia Beach. They made an official settlement in Virginia named after the kind, Jamestown. This was the first settlement in The New World by England and it was the birthplace of America. -
Peqout Indians as Slaves in Mass.
The Peqout Indians were the first captured Indians that were made slaves in Massachusetts when the settlers came to the new world. -
King Philip's War
The Wampanoags' helped the Pilgrims in the beginning but the tribal lands grew less and less as more colonists came and expanded. in 1662, King Philip became sachem. in 1675 three tribal memebers were executred by the English for the murder of a converted Wampanoag. Then in June of 1675 the Wampanoag attacked many settlements and killed dozens of colonists. A few months later King Philip was captured and killed and his men had no hope after that. -
Bacon's Rebellion
Bacon's Rebellion was when indentured servants were angry about being mistreated and not getting land. The Governor was not protecting their land but instead he was letting the Indians have it. They thought there wasnt going to be any land left for them so they attacked the governor of Virginia. -
Treaty of Paris
English win and get Canada and all the land east of the Mississippi River. France gets to keep two small islands off the Gulf of St.Lawerence and Spain, being an alliance to France, had to give up Florida to the English. -
Proclamation of 1763
The end of the French and Indian War was a time for colonists to celebrate. They wanted to take the western land but the Proclamation stopped them from doing so. The Proclamation stated that the colonists couldnt move west to protect the Indians, it also established four new colonies. The Proclamation line extended from the Atlantic Coast to the border of West Florida. Establishing and monitoring these posts cost money and led to taxes. -
Treaty of New York
This treaty made by the President of Unites States of America and the Kings, Chiefs, and Warriors of the Creek Nation of Indians. The two parties constructed the treaty to establish continuous peace, they got this permanent peace by ascertaining their limits. Also, they lived by building friendship with all members of each tribe, they also allowed the undersigned Kings, Chiefs, and Warriors and parts of the Creek Nation to be under rule of the United States. -
Creek Spanish Alliance
Creek Spanish Alliance was between the Spanish and Creek Indians to try to prevent the English from coming onto their land.
