Dred Scott v.s. Stanford was the first time that the Supreme Court had invalidated a major peice of federal legislation. This decision declared that Congress didnt have any power to stop slavery in federal territories. -

Social Security
Franklin Roosevelt signed the Social Security Act. The original program was designed to pay retirement benefits only at age 65 and only to the covered worker, himself or herself.

Brown v.s. Board of Education
This case was about negro children in white schools and the "separate but equal" facilities and things for the negros. The blacks facilities were not by my means "equal". They both had bathrooms and they both had water fountains, but the facilities for the white children were maintained and built a lot better than the ones for the black children. -
Medicare
Medicare has two main parts.
Part A is for hospital coverage.
Part B is for medical coverage.
Part A helps pay for in-patient care you get in a hospital, nursing facility, or hospice.
Part B helps pay for medically-necessary doctors’ services and things like that. It also pays for some things like flu shots.
Neither plan pays for the full coverage of patient's care though. It is kind of just like insurance. -

The program is geared toward people with low-income.
Services that it provides are:

-Vaccines for children.
-Nursing facility services.
-Family planning services and supplies.
-Rural health clinic services.
-Home health care for persons eligible for skilled-nursing services.
-Laboratory and x-ray services.
-Pediatric & family nurse practitioner services.
-Nurse-midwife services.
-Screening, diagnostic, & treatment services for children. -
Watergate Affair
Burglars were arrested in the Watergate building in Washington, D.C. The robbers were involved with President Richard Nixon’s reelection campaign. They were caught trying to wiretap phones & steal secret documents. -
"Tear Down this Wall"
President Ronald Reagan gave a speech in West Berlin about tearing down the Berlin Wall for the people in East Berlin to have freedom. The wall was built to keep the germans in East Berlin from escaping to the non-communist West Berlin. The wall was declared to be tore down in November 1989. -
Clinton Impeachment
President Bill Clinton was the second President ever to be impeached. He was impeached for lying under oath to a federal grand jury and obstructing justice. -
9/11/01
On September 11th, 2001 the Twin Towers were hit by two airplanes. Many lives were lost and it has had a great effect on America. The towers were hit by terrorists because they were IRS buildings and people do not like paying taxes to the IRS.
