Annabel hates her modeling career and really wants to stop but with her oldest sister quitting and her other sister anorexic and hostile, Annabel feels like her modeling is the only thing that keeps her mother going. Even so, Annabel can't stop thinking about "when everything changed"- some event that changed her whole world. Her parents fight with Kristen (oldest) and Whitney (middle) about WHitney taking a competititve modeling job in NY- but parents overrule Kristen and let Whitney go. -
Ch. 3-5 pages 50-100 total: 378
Whitney ends up in the hospital- passing out from "stress" as she claims. Kristen thinks differently. When WHitney comes back for Christmas, it's obvious how emaciated she is. Annabel goes to bathroom and finds her sister on the floor, and sees how skinny she is, and screams. Whitney goes into recovery. Then Annabel goes back to school adn her ex- best friend completely ignores her and calls her names. She is exiled. Something happend that summer. Then Annabel meets an outcast- Owen (music guy). -
Ch 5-8 pages 100-150 total: 428
Annabel learns about Owen's anger management problems and meets his younger sister. She learns that he loves this weird type of music. She also learns that he has a radio show early in the morning. Owen make sher promise not to lie to him. Annabel goes to a modeling job and calls back some memories of Will Cash and Sophie (her old friend). Emily replaced Annabel as Sophie's best friend.On Monday she talks to Owen again at lunch. Owen offers advice and they begin closer friends. -
Ch. 8-10 pages 150-200 total: 478
Owen and Annabel become even better friends as time goes on and their honesty policy strengthens. Owen gives her a bunch of CDs and one labeled Just Listen for her to listen to after she listens to all the rest. Kristen makes a short film about her and Whitney. Owen"s friend Rolly talls Annabel about the girl he is in love with but still has yet to ask her out or see her again. Owen leaves his iPod in Annabel's car and he kind of asks her out. -
Ch 10-15 pages 200-300 total: 578
Annabel and Owen kissed and Annabel recalls the night she was almost raped by Will Cash, Sophie's boyfriend. Sophie thought Annabel was making moves on Will. Virtually the same thing happened to Emily. Something happens between Owen and Annabel and he ignores her and she hates it. Emily tells the cops what Will did to her, which was the same as what happened with Annabel. Will gets arrested. -
Ch. 15-16 pages 300-322 total: 600
Whitney has started cooking, a big step. Kirsten is acting strange, leaving short messages. Annabel struggles with trying to tell her mom she hates modeling. Annabel, tired and confused and alone, works her way through the discs that Owen gave her. She doesn't like it, but still she wonders about the one labeled "Just Listen." Emily talks to Annabel about testifying against Will. Annabel also talks to Clarke again, and realizes that the way she sees things is way backwards than others. -
