    Crown rejected 3 times

    Crown rejected 3 times
Caesar was offered a crown(thrown) but he denied it three times. Ironically, the crown stayed in contact with his hand the whole time.
It seems to me that Caesar is testing the citizens and the senates to see how much he is desired.
We can also see how powerful words can be despite our small actions. (private vs. public self) (power of speech) (submitted by Yeajin)

Contrast between Pompey and Caesar, later on Caesar is defeated by other's desire for power too. Commoners easily change their support from Pompey to Caesar, Majority Rules, Commoners sway in power, no loyalty.

    Portia appeals to Brutus

    Portia appeals to Brutus
Portia asks Brutus the cause of his grief and appeals to him.
"....Am I your self But as if were in sort of limitation to keep with you at meals, comfort your bed, and talk to you sometimes?" (rhetorical questions) "Think you I am no stronger than my sex." (culture=men>women)
Brutus treats Portia more equally than Caesar&Calpurnia. (Public vs. Private/ Brutus ignores his private feelings/life for the public/ "honor of Rome" (huge mistake))

    Caesar's Arrogance

When conspirators beg Caesaer to bring back banished Pubilius Cimber, Caesar refuses. Caesar describes himself, "constant as the Northern star/ Of whose true fixed and resting quality/ There is no fellow in the firmament." He also said that, "That I was constant Cimber should be banish'd, and constant do remain to keep him so." This means that Caesar will most likely to become a tyrant because he said he will stick to his belief. (Power = Corruption) (Caesar failed the final test!) By Chris Hong

    The War Begins

Brutus. Ride, ride, Messala, ride, and give these bills
Unto the legions on the other side.
    [Loud alarum]
Let them set on at once; for I perceive
But cold demeanor in Octavius' wing,
And sudden push gives them the overthrow.
Ride, ride, Messala: let them all come down. In other words, CHAAAARGEE
    Or, "LEEEEEEROOOOY JEEEEEEENKINS!"

    Caesar's Ignores the Signs
Caesar told Calpurnia that, “What can be avoided who end is pruposed by the mighty god? Yet Caesar sahll go forth, for these predictions”. Which reflects in the theme of public vs. private because he doesn’t embarressed myself in from of the Roman’s citizens just because he listens to what his wife says. It also shows the believes of destiny in that age and he also believe that people cannot change their fate and god had set everything for him. (By: Sorn)

  • Brutus learns that his wife, Portia is dead

Brutus was talking to Cassius about the death of his wife. He seemed to really respect his wife, unlike how Caesar treate Calpurnia. This shows that the difference in gender role at this period depends on how much you respect and care for each other.
  • Brutus Sees the Ghost of Caesar

Brutus Sees the Ghost of Caesar
Brutus tries to go to sleep but awakes from the Ghost of Caesar. The ghost says that he'll see Brutus at Philippi. This thus foreshadows Brutus's death at Philippi. This also shows some element of misinterpretation for the ghost may actual be Caesar's spirit, or it may simply be Brutus's imagination coming from his guilt of killing Caesar.
