Early life
Julie Andrews was born in the county of Surrey in the United Kingdom, her parents were Barbara and Edward Wells and she has three siblings Christopher, Ceila, and John. Andrews was a result of an affair her mother had with a family friend, her parents went their separate ways and also remarried. -
Early life
Andrews lived with her brother John and Wells for a while until he sent Julie to live with her mother and step father in 1940, he thought they'd be able to provide for Andrews artistic training but her step father was violent and an alcoholic, he twice while drunk tried to abuse her resulting for her to fit a lock on her door. -

Julie began singing with her mother and step father in their musical hall act, she made her solo professional debut in 1947 a revue staged at the London Hippodrome. -

On November 1st thirteen year old Andrews became the youngest solo performer in a Royal Variety Performance at the London Palladium , she performed alongside singer Danny Kaye. -
Television Debut
Julie followed her parents into radio and television , she made her television debut on the BBC programme RadiOlympia Showtime on October 8 of 1949, she appeared on West End theatre at the London Casino where she played one year each as Princess Badroulbadour in Aladdin and the egg in Humpty Dumpty. She also appeared on stages in Jack and the Beanstalk and Little Red Riding Hood. -
