Judson University History

  • Founding Date

    Judson was founded by Northern Theological Seminary.
    They offered courses for men and women in training for the ministry.
  • Moving to Elgin

    In 1963 the seminary portion of Northern moved from Chicago to Lomard. Judson's first president Dr. Benjamin P. Browne decided to seperate the school from the seminary and move the location to Elgin.
  • Naming of the School

    Naming of the School
    Judson was named after Adoriram Judson. He was the first American missionary abroard.
  • Presidential Change

    In 1967, Dr. Browne retired. Taking his place was Dr. Amos B Barton.
  • 7th President

    7th President
    Our current president, Dr. Crume, became president of Judson University in 2013.
