Ms.Baker begins touring and booking shows as a dancer and singer in shows such as the chocolate dandies and plantation club. -
World War II
When WWII erupted Baker was forced into the Red Cross. She later went on to work in the French resistance. Utilizing her performance abilities, she entertained troops, restoring hope in the Free French force. -
From performer to advocate
Despite settling away from the US, she freuquently traveled back to participate in demonstrations and boycott clubs and concerts to fight against segregation and racism. -
Day of death
Baker passed days after doing one of her final performances after coming out of “retirement”. She died peacefully of cerebral hemorrhage in a hospital France
