    At a young age Stalin already found himself getting in trouble. He was being paid to revolt and go against the czar which led to his first arrest in April 1902. He was exiled to Siberia but quickly escaped.Stalin was arrested and exiled six times. He escaped five times and was released once. This was the start to a bad brutal life.

    On the 21 of August in 1911, the world was shocked to find out the most historic painting had been stolen. The painting that was stolon depicted a portrait of a lady with the facial expression that could never be identified. It was called the Mona Lisa and was painted by Leonardo da Vinci.     Joseph Stalin made social committee member of Bolsheviks
    After leaving school Stalin joined a Russian group called the Bolsheviks. The Bolsheviks were a militant wing of the Marxist Social Democratic movement. It was led by Vladimir Lenin. Stalin took place in many criminal activities including bank heist to help fund the group. He was then made social committee member (higher power in group) in May of 1912. Stalin quickly demonstrated his ability and willingness to manipulate ideology in order to ensure his personal supremacy. He began by announcing a retreat from Lenin's idea of world communist revolution. He officially now has full power.

    1922 Stalin transformed from a peasant society into an industrial and military superpower. However, he ruled by terror during his brutal reign. His focused on government control of the economy and included the forced collectivization of Soviet agriculture, where government took control of farms. Millions of farmers refused to cooperate and were shot or exiled as punishment. This also led to widespread famine across the Soviet Union affecting and killing many of people.

    Becomes Editor of Prevda
    Pravda is a Russian broadsheet newspaper, formerly the official newspaper of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, when it was one of the most influential papers in the country. The newspaper was run by the editor Nikolai Bukarin. He and Stalin never agreed and Stalin and in June 1933 Stalin used the Pravda party organization to undermine his authority and used the paper as his mouthpiece. This helped him get his voice out.

    Millions of People Killed
    1936-1938 Stalin conducted many trials in which party officials and many officer corps of the red army were convicted of outrageous crimes or acts of treason. By 1939 98 of the 139 central committee members have been executed. Also 1108 of the 1966 delegates of the 16th congress were arrested. Worst of all millions of innocent people were executed, exiled or imprisoned. This put a very bad name on Stalin and many people feared him.

  • Katyn Massacre

    Katyn Massacre
    The Katyn massacre was a series of mass executions of Polish nationals carried out by the "People's Commissariat for Internal Affairs", a Soviet secret police organisation in April and May 1940. Though the killings took place at several different locations, the massacre is named after the Katyn Forest, where some of the mass graves were first discovered. The massacre execute all captive members of the Polish officer corps showing Stalin showed no mercy.

    Battle of Stalingrad
    The Battle of Stalingrad July 17, 1942-Feb. 2, 1943, was the successful Soviet defense of the city of Stalingrad in the U.S.S.R. during World War II. Russians consider it to be the greatest battle of their Great Patriotic War. It ended German advance into the Soviet Union and marked the turning of the tide of war in favor of the Allies. There was nearly 2 million military/civilian deaths. This saved russia from the Germans.

    Stalin died on March 5, 1953
    At the end, when he was in his seventies and approaching his own death, his subordinates continued to carry out his murderous orders. According to his daughter Svetlana, who was at the bedside, at 9.50pm on the 5th Stalin’s eyes opened with ‘a terrible look – either mad or angry and full of the fear of death’. He raised his left hand, pointing upwards, perhaps threateningly, and then death took him. This marked the end to a horrible man.
