The Battles Lexington and Concord
This is the first battle of American Revolution. The militia were hiding an arsenal of weapons in Concord. The colonists knew that the British was coming. So they ambushed the British and pushed all around the Concord, Lexington, and Masschuchets area until they final stopped them, right outside of Massachucetts. -
The Battle of Chelsea Creek
This was the second military engagement of the Boston Campaign. The Contential was successful the won the battle, by removing all livestock for the British and they destroyed a British ship and took all of the weapons. This was the first naval victory of the war and it really helped boost the morale of the colonials. -
The Battle of Bunker Hill
The British and Colonials were fighting for control of two hills that would give the winning side control of the harbor. The Conolists had control at first and than the British advanced and pushed the cononials out after they ran out of ammo. -
The Battle of Quebec
This was the first major defeat of Americans early in the war. And they had some heavy losses. A general died, Benedict Arnold, was wounded, and over 400 men were captured. -
The Siege of Fort Ticonderoga
The Contetential Amry retreated from Quebec to saftey in Fort Ticonderoga. But the British surronded the fort and finally pushed inside after 4 days. The British forces pursued most militia men. -
The Battle of Long Island
This battle was over control of New York City. The British won this battle and it ended up being the biggest battle of the war. -
The Battle of White Plains
The whole battle was the British chasing around George Washington and his troops until their eventually esape. -
The Battle of Fort Washington
This battle was fought over control for Fort Washington. The British attacked the fort and the Contentials quickly surrendered. This was the heavist loss for the Patriots of the war. -
The Battle of Trenton
This battle happened after Washingtons successful escape from the British and he decided to attack the Hessians. He did so, and was able to capture more than two-thirds of their forces. This battle was able to boost the morale of the Contential Army. -
Battle of Princeton
This happened right after the Battle of Trenton. George Washington and troops fled from Trenton into Princeton, where he led an assualt. He pushed back a small British force and retreated before reinforcements came. -
The Battle of Oriskany
This was one of the bloodiest battles of the war. An American party was ambushed by Loyalists and allies of some Indian tribes. The American party won this battle and it really boosted the morale of the contentials. -
The Battle of Bennington
A British general led an assualt with an army of 700 troops mixed with Hessians, Loyalists, Canadians, and Indians on Bennington town believing that it was lightly defended. They arrived and were outnumbered 1500 to 700. The Americans won. -
The Battle of Brandywine
This battle was when the Contential fought the British for 11 hours, until retreating back to Philadelphia. They then quickly retreated to the northeast and lost that battle. -
The Battle of Saratoga
This was when a British general led a massive invasion army in hopes that he would meet up with two fellow forces. During this march, the British was attacked by militiamen and that led him to retreat into Saratoga. -
The Battle of Germantown
George Washington was planning on attacking a British force headed toward Germantown. This battle ended in a terrible defeat and the militia suffered heavy causalities. -
The Battle of Saratoga (Bemis Heights)
This was when the Contential Army surronded the British in a wall formation up agaisnt the ocean. The British couldn't move inland, or left or right. And France played a role by making a naval blockade to stop reinforcements. So this led the British to surrender. -
The Battle of Monmouth
George Washington led an assualt on the Monmouth Court House and waited for the British to leave so he could attack from the back. The British was able to take cover and the battle ended in a draw. -
The Capture of Savannah
The British invaded the city of Savannah in an attempt tp capture it. They succeeded. -
The Siege of Charleston
When the British attacked this town. It was fortfied by the Americans, but that couldn't stop the British. The battle ended in surrender to the Americans.
