    Johnson's speech was about the Great society,, or as called his goals. This speech was located at the University of Michigan. The reason for this speech was to tell students about his goals and to recieve and honorable degree.

    Economic Opportunity Act of 1964
    Johnson approved the Economic Opportunity Act on August 20th, 1964 by the Congress. The act was created for the War on Poverty. It provided job training, adult education, and loans to small businesses to attack the roots of unemployment and poverty.

    The Elementary and Secondary Education Act provided aid to states, based on the number of children in each state from low-income homes. The funds went to public schools and provate schools. Johnson signed this act at the small Texas school that he went to as a child.

    Immigration Act of 1965
    The Immigration Act replaced the carying quotas by limiting 20,000 immigrants per year from any one country outside the Western Hemisphere. Which the act limited 170,000 immigrants from the Eastern Hemisphere and 120,000 from the Western Hemisphere. Johnson signed this by the Statue of Liberty

    Medicare was created by Johnson and Congress approved it. Medicare provides hospitals and low-cost medical insurances to most Americans age 65 and older. This was created becuase Johnson no longer wanted older Americans to not get the aid that they need at hospoitals.

    Medicaid provides a low-cost health insurance for all poor people of any age. If someone can't afford health insurance, medicaid will cover it for them. Johnson created medicaid becuase he wants everyone to be able to be covered by health insurance and will be in good hands.

    The HUD was established on September 9th, 1965 to see the nation's housing needs and to develop and rehabilitate urban communities. It also provided money for rent supplements and low-income housing. Johnson passed this into law.

    The National Foundations of the Arts and Humanitities
    The National Foundations of the Arts and Humanitites was signed by Johnson into law on September 29th, 1965 to offer grants to artists and scholars. Johnson signed this into law at the Rode Gardens.

    The Water Quality Act signed by Johnson on October 2nd, 1965 brought water and air quality in good standards and provided funds for enviornmental research.
