The last child and only son born in Cleveland, Ohio, to the growing Standard Oil Tycoon John D. Rockefeller Sr. who only had four girls previous to this with his wife Laura. -
Johnny Welsh is Born
Johnny is born to a poor mother with another son and a father with a massive drinking problem, in Shermerville, Illinois. -
Johnny's Father Leaves
Johnny's father leaves Johnny's mother, brothers and sisters to fend for themselves. Johnny begins playing father and mother to his siblings so his mother can work in the factories. Later on, as a seven year old and onward, Johnny will work in a few other factories with praise for his machine-like work ethic only pausing for debilitating sicknesses. -
Johnny is a Starcher
Johnny is promoted to being a Starcher in the bobbin factory. -
Johnny is a Loom-Worker
Johnny celebrates his 16th Birthday by being promoted to his greatest goal to be a Loom-Worker and is a highly praised worker. -
Johnny Leaves Home
Johnny finally decides he's had enough of "moving" and leaves his home and family. He boards the first train he can and inadvertently ends up in Cleveland, Ohio. -

Johnny and Johnny Rock
JW is sneaking around the oil refineries of Standard Oil, only further exploring the town he's lived in when he finds JR dressed like a common man trying to run away. The unsuspecting JW concoles JR who is complaining about his life and family, and JR is so grateful to have found a real friend, that he brings him home for Independance Day. Mr. Rockefeller is not pleased at the intruder as it interrupted his buisness, but JW proves his worth by showing Rockefeller his skill with numbers. -
Johnny and Browning School
After less than a year of living and working in the Rockefellers' home, the decision is made my Rockefeller Sr. that the two inseperable boys should go to Browning School in Manhattan. Johnny is given his first birthday present, a bound notebook. -
Johnny's First Entry
I never thought I'd ever have the chance to write all 'bout my self. I thought it'd be proper to wait until my first day of school to start writing. My life has never been better than now at the Rockefellers'. My coffee is better than life itself, I don't have to move so much and I'm happy working for Mr. Rockefeller. Now that I can go to school with Rock I'm happier than I ever have been. I think about my mom and siblings sometimes, but I've made my decision and I don't want to see 'em again. -
Johnny Joins Rockefeller Sr.
After these few years at Browning School, I've really learned what it means to be a proper man. I've been beyond grateful to have this luck of finding a home in the Rockefeller family. Being Rock's best friend in school helped me be become more social and I've excelled in my studies, and helped Rock a good deal. I've talked with Mr. Rockefeller, and I've convinced him not to make me go to college, because I wish to work as his Financial Advisor. -
Johnny Rock joins Rockefeller Sr.
After graduating from Brown University, Johnny Rock joins his father's company of Standard Oil, automatically becoming a director. -
Johnny Rock Married
Rock finally tied the knot. He's been talking of nothing else but this girl and his silly relationship. I was his best man, and if anything I was happy to see him happy. -
World War 1 Begins
Rockefeller told me this morning over breakfast that the world is at war. He and I agree that America is right to stay out of it. The world has its own problems. Rock thinks America should help the English, he disagrees with Mr. Wilson's decision to stay neutral. -

U.S. is Involved in WW1
Ridiculous. I've sent a letter to Mr. Rockefeller today. Rock and I had an arguement over the validity of America's involvement in this war. It has lasted too long and the Europeans should fight it out for themselves. -

I went back to Shermerville today to find my ma and family. Just to see them again one more time. They weren't in the old apartment, so I walked by our street when I saw two soldiers came around the bend and walk on a door on the ground floor. My ma came out not looking much different. I didn't say anything since she would be afraid of a man in a suit. The soldiers handed her a telegraph and she started crying there in the doorway. I suppose that's my brother. I'm a little sorry for my ma. -
WW1 Ends
Finally this dreadful war is over. Hopefully these pathetic politicians don't make a mess of things again. At this rate we're probably in massive war debt and if Wison's succesor doesn't something about it, we're all doomed. -
Prohibition
This is the best improvement the government has made in a while. There are better ways for our young people to be having fun than wasting the little money they have on drink. They should learn to value simply sitting quietly under a tree in nature. The beauty of the world is truly going unnoticed. -
KKK Parade: Washington, DC
What a horrific display. I was in Washington, DC today naturally with Mr. Rockefeller and Rock for a buisness meeting, to see the KKK having a party on Pennsylvania Ave. The newspapers say there were five million people there... I suggested to Mr. Rockefeller that he should somehow show his disapproval in the newspapers, but he insisted that although this was against God, it would be unwise to involve himself in politics. -

I know my lint-cough will get me this time. Rock has sent for the best doctors and his family is always visiting.I've worked for the Rockefellers all my life, yet they're more family than I've ever had.The government's croonies are claiming Hitler is gonna come get us all, but I don't buy. This government's economy is going into the dirt anyway. I've told Rock to invest in silver to save his fortune. -
Johnny Welsh Dies
After years of alternating between bed-ridden illness to consistent coughing, Johnny passes away of pnemonia at 56 years old. -

Mr. Rockefeller Sr. dies at 98 years old of arterioclerosis as one of the wealthiest people in history having a fortune worth 1.4 billion. He summed up his life as such at 88 years old:
I was early taught to work as well as play,
My life has been one long, happy holiday;
Full of work and full of play-
I dropped the worry on the way-
And God was good to me everyday. -
