Personal life
When studying at Cambridge, he met his lovely wife Ruth Martin. Ruth was a mathematics student who similar to Polkinghorne was apart of the Christian Union. They two got married on March 26th 1955 and later went on to have 3 children. -
College Education
Polkinghorne began his college degree in physics at Trinity College in Cambridge. He received his bachelors in mathematics in 1952. He earned his master's in 1955. He finally got his PhD in 1956 in quantum field theory. John studied under the famous Paul Dirac focusing on particle physics. -

In the year of 1956 John was appointed lecturer in mathematical physics at the university in Edinburgh -
