    John Polkinghorne was born October 16, 1930, in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, England. He was raised in a devout Church of England family which had a profound affect on his adult life.
  • Mathematical models to calculate the paths of quantum particles

    Mr. Polkinghorne created his mathmatical models to study the structure characteristics of particles. As he states "The basic presumption is: There must be certain structural characteristics in a particle like electron which make it obey postulates of modern theories. As it is ‘difficult’ to find structure of electron experimentally, we make a mathematical attempt." (1. Nitin Ramchandra Gadre) His models were recognized by being selected as a fellow of the Royal Society.

    Father John Polkinghorne

    Beginning in 1982, Fr. Polkinghorne, became as a priest in a South Bristol. In 1984, he became vicar of a parish in Blean. In 1986 was appointed fellow, dean, and chaplain of Trinity Hall. In 1989 he was appointed president of Queens’ College. He retired from ministry in 1996.

    From 1983 to 2007 Mr. Polkinghorne published a variety of books. He detailed the relationship between science and religion. His first book, "The Way the World Is", explained how a thinking person can be a Christian. His final book, "From Physicist to Priest", was an autobiography.
