Birth
John Winston Lennon was born in Liverpool, England in 1940 wartime. The middle name "Winston" gets its likliness from Winston Churchill, but is later replaced with Ono after he meets his now widow, Yoko Ono. Athough, it was never fully legally removed as it was his brithname, so his real full name is John Winston Ono Lennon. It was in liverpool where he would meet the future Beatles members and become one of the most famous musicians of all time. (Photo Debbie Tasker) -
The Quarrymen, John meets Paul
The Quarrymen formed in September of 1956, but it is not until the band's second performace on July 6th 1957 that John asks Paul to join the band. Pual also eventually be the person who intorduces George Harrison to the band. The Quarrymen will go on to have Ringo Starr join as drummer and become the world renouned Beatles. The Beatles invade America
The Beatles first televised perofrmance in America on The Ed Sullivan Show took place in front of 73 million Americans tuning in. The constant screamning girls will become a regular for the group's performances. (Photo Mojo.com) -
Beatles Face American Backlash
During the touring of the Beatles, they faced a lot of backlash due to their controversial views, and Lennon's "We are more popular than Jesus" remark did not hold over well with Americans. Albums were burned and fans began to revolt, and this led up to the Beatles to stop touring in general. (Cox) -
The Beatles Breakup
John Lennon tells Paul McCartney that he is leaving the band in 1969, however Paul announces that he is leaving the band on April 10th 1970, so this is the closed date that marks the breakup of the Beatles. The Assassination of John Lennon
John Lennon was shot and killed when entering the Dakota in New York City on December 8th, 1980. The assassin, Mark David Chapman,shot at Lennon five times before the police showed up to arrest Chapman, who did not resist. He carried and tried to read The Catcher in the Rye, and had also recieved and autograph from Lennon on Lennon's Double Fantasy Album, and John asked him "Is that all you want?". (History)
