For elementary school Kennedy went to Edward Devotion School in Brookline, from his kindergarten year in 1922 until the beginning of third grade. Then switched to Noble and Greenough School in Dedham, then to Dexter School, a boys school, in Brookline.

After Kennedy moved to New York he went to school at Riverdale Country School, from 5th to 7th grade. In 8th grade he went to Canterbury school.
