    John Dupre received his Ph.D. in 1981 at Cambridge University. He was a research fellow at St. Johns college for 2 years before teaching at Stanford University until 1996. Dupre reintroduced the philosophy department at Birkek college, University of London, that had since been closed mid 1980's. He did so after his stint as a research fellow after returning to London. In December of 2012, John Dupre takes the stand to discuss the importance of Philosophy of Biology to peers. See title for link.

    In 2010 Dupre was elected a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. In 2011-2013 Dupre was President of the British Society for the Philosophy of Science. He was elected an Honorary International Member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2020. From January 2019, to 2021 he was vice president and President-Elect of the Philosophy of Science Association and will be president of 2021-2022.
