  • Free Will & Indeterminism

    In 1996 Dupre wrote, "The Solution to the Problem of the Freedom of the Will," in Philosophical Perspectives, where Dupre proposes indeterminism in contrary to determinism to solve the argument over free will.   • Pluralistic Science

    In 1998, alongside John O'Neill, Dupre wrote an article titled, "Against Reductionist Explanations of Human Behaviour" in Proceedings of the Aristotelian Society. This is where he proposed the pluralistic metaphysical view of science, which was contrary to reductionism. Reductionism being where different fields of science could be utilized to explain other sciences, creating a linear way of understanding science together. Dupre proposed that it cannot be this simple.

    John Dupré is still alive today and is currently a Professor of Philosophy of Science at the University of Exeter in the UK. Where we can only hope to see him continue to contribute to the sciences and our way of examining and understanding our world.
