John D. Rockefeller was born July 8th, 1839. John was born in Richford, New York. John was born into a poor family. -
Childhood Buisness
John's mom let him raise chickens and sell the eggs. He found the mother and he rasied her to have chicks. That was John's first experience with buisness. -
High School and College
John first attended owego Academy in Moravia, New York then his family moved to Strongsville, new York a suburb in Cleveland, Ohio. John went to Central High School and took a 10 week buisness course. After High School he went to Folsom's Commerical College where he studied Bookkeeping. -
Hewitt and Tuttle
Hewitt and Tuttle taught John about buisness. They did not pay him at first .John just liked to get taught about real buisness and not stuff he learned at school. -
First Job
On September 26, John went out looking for a job. He finally got a job at a small produce commission firm called Hewitt and Tuttle. John got paid below minimum wage. He did not care he just wanted to learn about Buisness. John was the assistant bookkeeper which is like a accountant. He managed and inspected deliveries, checked the costs, paid the seller and recorded the payments. -
The Oil Firm
Maurice Clark and John created a oil refinery and firm. The firm was first owned by John, Clark, and a scientist named Samuel Andrews. John bought out the firm from the Clark brothers. The Rockefeller and Andrews Company made a great expansion to the railroad and oil buisness. -
Civil War
The American Civil War started April 12th, 1861 and ended April 9th, 1865. The last shot was fired June 22nd, 1865. There were over 620,000 deaths and uncountable civilian deaths. -
Abraham Lincoln
Abraham Lincoln was born February 12th, 1809 and was assassinated April 15th, 1865. He was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth. Booth was a confederate spy. Lincoln was shot at Ford's Theatre. Abraham banned Slavery in all federal territories. -
John and Clark's Firm
John and a friend from college started a company in the produce commission buisness. In 1863 John and Maurice Clark built a oil refinery. John bought the oil firm from Maurice Clark and his brother at auction for 72,000 dollars. The firm ended up becoming the Standard Oil Company. -
Standard Oil Company
Johns firm the Standard Oil Company was one of the most hated companies in the world at the time. Rockefeller laid off more than 1,200 workers at his firm and kept 70. The standard Oil Company also had illegal monopolies and had to split the company into 34 new companies. -

Worl War 1 was Between the Central Powers against the Entente Powers. The Central Powers were Austria, Hungary, Germany, Ottoman Empire, and Bulgaria. The Entente Powers were United Kingdom, United States of America, France, Italy, and Japan. -
Death of a Buisnessman
John D. Rockefeller died May 23, 1937. He died at the casements in his sleep. The casements was a home that he bought over the winter and spring seasons.
