Education
Polkinghorne earned his bachelors degree in math in 1952. Four years later he earned his masters degree in 1955, and his first doctorate in 1956 in Quantum Field Theory at Trinity College, Cambridge. Wrote his first, of several books.
In 1983, John published the first of several books. His first book was titled Relation of Science and Religion: The Way the World Is. He wrote many books through the years relating both science and religion and how they go hand in hand. Some of these titles include: The Faith of a Physicist (1994), Faith, Science and Understanding (2000), God of Hope and the End of the World (2002) and an autobiography titled From Physicist to Priest (2007). Ordained Scientist Society
In 1986, Polkinghorne helped found the Society of Ordained Scientists. This society is active today, and has members around the world. Retired in 1996

Templeton Prize
In 2002 John was awarded the Templeton Prize for progress towards research and discoveries about spiritual realities. International Society for Science and Religion
In 2002, Polkinghorne founded and was the president of the International Society for Science and Religion (I.S.S.R.) from 2002- 2004. Members of the society includes scientists, theologians, historians, philosophers and others (ISSR.org). This is a great foundation where professionals from all areas of science and religion can come together and be representatives of the cultural diversity. Reference: ISSR.org -
