    John bought a custard pie and saved the crust for sole leather. The next day John was dismissed from picket duty at 9 in the morning so he slept all day from being awake all night.

    John was assigned provost guard at the depot. This means he is guarding/escorting something. He is escorting a runaway soldier to court. This soldier was sentenced to imprisonment for 3 years and hard labor with no payment. -Camped near WoodVille Ala

    the weather was rainy causing the streams to flood. The fruit trees started to grow fruit. The weather was cool that night and more rain the next day. That day John received a letter from a friend that he had returned home safely.-camped near WoodVille Ala

    John was on Picket duty guarding the camp. All of John’s infantry on horseback were scouting when they were taken prisoner. 3 men were injured and 1 man died. Many men for the union were injured and five died. 2 confederate men managed to escape and make it back. - camped near WoodVille Ala

    Sulter of the 31st Iowa brought beer for the men. That night at 1 in the morning the picket guards were fired at. It was madness, scattered shots everywhere, and cannons fired. It's doesn't say if there was any injuries or deaths. -camped near WoodVille Ala

    John is on camp guard duty. The camp is divided into 3 messes. John is put in the 3rd mess. The next day the troops built a bakery and did regimental drills. -camped near WoodVille Ala

    at 7 in the morning John and the rest of the camp moved up 13 miles to a new position. At 2 pm they got attacked from everywhere.they drove them back they lost 2 men and 2 men were injured. -Near Resaca, Ga.
