John Adams was born in Braintree (Currently Quincy), Massaschusetts to John Adams Sr. and Susanna Boylston. His parents were both descendants of people who lived in colonial times. -
John Adams Goes to College
John Adams received a scholarship to go Harvard University, the place where he picked up his interest in the law. Adams graduated when he was only 20 years old. In 1758 he earned his master degree, and was allowed into "The Bar" in 1761. -
John Adams is Married
John Adams was married to Abigail Adams on October 25th, 1764. The two's relationship was enhanced my reading. They lived in Braintree on John's farm before moving to Boston. -
John Admas, the Rebel
John Adams paricipated in many rebellious acts during his time. One of which was being against the Writs of Asssisstance, passed i 1660. Another was the Stamp Act which he wrote an article called the Essay on the Canon and Feudal Law, to combat it. He was also part of the patriot movement. -
John Adams is Active in Government
In 1765, John Adams chose George Washington as his preferred pick for the Commander In Chief. He was also very active, he was involved in ninety different committees. Of those ninety he was also chairman for twenty five of them while the Second Continental Congress was in play. -
John Adams Starts his American Political Career
Elected into the Massachusets Assembly in 1770, John Adams starts his political career. He was then chosen to be part of the ver first Contenental Congress in 1774. But this was not when his career ended. -
John Adams Inspires the Declaration of Independence
John Adams gave a solution that lead to the creation of the Declaration of Independence. This Declaration would state that America was free from Britain. After this he was a large supporter of the Declaration, written by Thomas Jefferson. -
John Adam Becomes the Ambassador to France
Adams was appointed as the Ambassador to France in 1778. He replaced Silas Deane to become it and was replaced by Benjamin Franklin the same year. Although he came back from those practices as Ambassador in 1779. -
John Adams Co-Creates the Treaty of Paris
Adams, along with Benjamin Franklin, John Jay, and others, took part in the creation of the Treaty of Paris. In 1783, this treaty ended the war with Britain and left America as its own country, or countries as it were. -
Adams is Elected Vice President
In 1789, Adams was elected Vice President, George Washington being the President. Later in 1796, Adams was elected President of the United States, with Thomas Jefferson being his Vice President. -

Adams and Jefferson Battle it Out
Because Adams was a Federalist, and Jefferson was a Republican, you can imagine some conflicts came up. This was especially bad when Jefferson had to be Adams' Vice President because Jefferson lost the race. This continued on because of the issue of National Government versus State Governments and Individual Citizens. -
John Adams Retires
At the end of his term Adams retired from office. Although he is no longer President he still has 25 years left in his life whixh makes him still fit for a job. Although this job came too late, as i will mention in the next slide. -
John Adams is Elected President, Again?
Adams was elected President again, but not of the United States. He was elected to be the President of a group of people that were trying to change the Constitution. Although he would gladly taken the job in an earlier year, his health problems forced him to decline. -
John Adams Dies
John Adams died in the same state as his birth, Massachussetts, more specifically in Quincy. His cause of death was pneumonia and heart failure. His burial place was under United First Parish Church in the family crypt. -
John Adams Dies, Part 2
John Adasm death was indeed tragic, but it was also significant. His last cheer to America was, "Independence Forever!" And, as a matter of fact, Thomas Jefferson died hoirs before him. Because Adams did not know of this, some people say that he said, "Thomas Jeffferson Survives", with his dying breath.
