Neil Simon was born too a jewish family on July 4 1926 in New York he had one brother (Danny Simon) and he wrote 30 plays and screenwrights, known as America's most prolific playwright all of his plays earned prolific success and some even were adapded to movies and comedy sitcomes like Barfoot at the Park, and the Old Couple -

Neil's eraly life was hard. His pearints relationship was exstremly strained his father would leave for months on end, and all this was during the great depression.he was depression all through his childhood and be very shy in school. dispite this he fond salus in movies, comedies that would play in a local theater would set the ground work for his future. when he turned sixteen he became employed, in his words, in "lifting heavy things." -

After studying in NYU Neil joins the Air Force as Army camp newspaper, his time in the Force was cut short when armistice (a truce) came arond and so he was discharged -

after the war ended neil got employed in Warner Brothers with his brother, he worked in the mailroom of the New York office and his brother in publicity department. together they colaberated in a amertaur comedic plays, they later prosented them selfs to Goodman Ace a producer from CBS who was looking for comedy wrighters, he chalenged them to make a sketch funny enough to be be brodcast on CBS. They hit home so there set to write for Robert Q. Lewis. -
His First Full-Length Play
His first started on a script for a Play in 1958, the script was based on his family at the time, Joan, Ellen, Nancy, and chips (The dog), he fond a name for it in a childrens book "Come Blow Your Horn", it had a total of 27 rewrights and did not get finished untill 1961, where it would get 677 performances on Broadway. kick starting his correr in theater. it also made a film that stared Frank Sinatra -

the Odd couple premiered in the Plymouth Theatre at Broadway, the plot is about two recently divorced roommates, one neat and shy, the other loveing and casual. this play was initaly the idea of Danny Simon. but he gave it to Neil so he could return to collaborative television writing. -

he married Joan Bain in 1953, he had two chilldren with Nancy Simon and Ellen Simon, but Joan Bain died in 1973. so he remarried to Marsha Mason in 1973, divorced with her in 1983, he then remarried to Diane Lander in 1987, divorcing in 1988, remarried back too Diane Lander 1990, divorcing again in 1998.
he would finaly marry to Elaine Joyce in 1991, he would stay with her until death.
