She believed the voices to belong to Saint Michael, tells her to go to church and not marry. It also tells her that she can drive the english out of Paris. In the last session with the Angel he tells her to seek out the true king Charles VII -

Joan meets the king
After eleven days of travel, Joan reaches the court of Charles VII. She proves her right to be a prophet, when she singles him out from the crowd even though she has never met him. Joan then proceeds to convince him of her cause -

Joan liberates the city of Orleans from English siege
This battle took place from, April 29 to May 8, when the last of the British forces were driven away. This is also where Joan gained credibility and the trust of Charles VII, and where Joan got the popular nickname "Maid of Orleans". -

Joan fails to liberate Paris from english occupation
Joan sets her sights on Paris and musters a large army of many men-at-arms and knights, but the native population supported the British, so with out sabotage, the well supplied and armed Paris would only come down with a long sustained siege. Which neither Joan or Charles would attempt. Either way, Joan attempted to storm the walls, but after being injured by a cross bolt, and her famous banner falling to the ground, the troops lost hope and were easily repelled by an overeager English force. -

Aftermath of the siege of Paris
After a catastrophic failure at Paris, the king lost hope in Joan of Ark. Finally, concluding that because she had no military or political experience and was the cause of ridicule by other kings. That it would be better to send her into unimportant battles, with little men, and supplies into battles she could not win. -

Joan is captured
Joan is captured during the defense of the drawbridge which led to Compiegne, as she guards her troops while they retreat to the city.

Tried by English
She never gave up a single useful piece of information to her english captors, even under threat of torture Tried by english for heresy, is sentenced to jail time. Picture below is the tower that was used as her prison. -

Joan of Arc is tried a second time
Joan of Arc is tried again because of a relapse. She is finally charged to death at a stake for design like a man. This leads her to then be charged with heresy. -

Joan of Arc dies
She is burned at a stake in Rouen, Normandy. The French King did not even try to appeal on her behalf, much less pay the extravagant ransom for her return. Her last words as she burned were Jesus, Jesus, Jesus. -

Why was Joan of Arc important
France was a demoralized country about to fall into english hands, Joan inspired solders and townsfolk alike to continue to repel these invaders. Moreover if France had fallen into British hands, Britain would have been a true superpower even today. Also without Frances help the fight for Americas freedom would have required many more long years of fighting and even more sacrifices. -
