    Death of her Mother
    J.K. Rowling's mother passed away on December 30th, 1990. This event rattled Rowling and led to her having depression for a while but ultimately led to the creation of dementors in her Harry Potter series.

    After graduating from Exter University, Rowling moved to Portugal in 1990 and taught English. She met and married a Portuguese journalist named Jorge Arantes. They had a daughter named Jessica in 1993 but sadly ended in a divorce. After their divorce, Rowling moved in with her younger sister named Di.

They then foil a plan to prevent the rise of Voldemort.

    Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
    J.K. Rowling came out with her second publication in the Harry Potter series called Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. In this story there is a mysterious threat that is looming around Hogwarts petrifying some of the students. Harry, Ron, and Hermione try to figure out what this threat is. Harry ventures into the Chamber of Secrets to find out that there is a basilisk that is petrifying the students. A figment of Voldemort is controlling the basilisk from his old diary.

    Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
    J.K Rowling released the third book on July 8th, 1999. In this book, Harry's godfather who is a notorious criminal named Sirius Black escapes from the super wizard prison of Azkaban. Since Sirius is assumed to be a part of the murder of Harry's parents, Harry is put under heavy protection at Hogwarts. It is later revealed that Sirius is innocent but Peter Pettigrew is the real murderer.

    In the fourth installment, the Triwizard Tournament is being held at Hogwarts. Harry's name is someone chosen from the goblet even though he is unable to compete in the tournament due to age but is now forced to compete. After competing a variety of challenges to test their magic abilities, the contestants have made it to the final challenge. Harry and the other contestant from Hogwarts Cedric tie but the trophy transports them to a graveyard where Voldemort is risen and Cedric is killed.

    Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them
    Neither a prequel nor sequel to Harry Potter, Rowling wrote this book as an extension of the wizarding world. This book is about how a wizard brought over a suitcase of creatures from the wizarding world the the United States. This is currently being made to a movie and will hit theaters on November 18,2016.

    On December 26, 2001 J.K. Rowling got married to an anesthetist Dr. Neil Murray at Scotland. While married, they have had two children named David and Mackenzie. David was born in 2001, and Mackenzie was born in 2005
  • Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

    Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
    In the fifth installment, a small group called the Order of the Phoenix is trying to protect wizards and civilians from the return of Lord Voldemort. However, the Ministry of Magic is hesitant to believe that Voldemort has really returned so they have taken over Hogwarts and regulates what is taught there. Doloroes Umbridge is put in charge and dictates the school with an iron fist. Harry forms a group called Dumbledores Army then travels to take on Voldemort but Sirius Black dies in this fight.

    In the fifth installment, Voldemort's terror is spreading through the wizard community with the disappearances of witches and wizards. However, there is a plot headed by Draco Malfoy to kill Albus Dumbledore who Voldemort views as his biggest threat. Fortunately, Dumbledore has discovered that Voldemort has been creating Horcruxes (stores a piece of the soul) so him and Harry try to find them and destroy them. However, when they return to Hogwarts Snape kills Dumbledore and strikes a moral blow
  • Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

    Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
    In the final installment, Harry, Ron, and Hermione are on a journey to find and destroy the Horcruxes. However, Hogwarts has turned into a terrible school that is run by death eaters. Harry and crew return to find some of the Horcruxes hidden at Hogwarts and in order to buy them time the professors of the school try and defend the school while the forces of Voldemort. During this battle, Harry and Voldemort duel and Harry ultimately kills Voldemort which ends the war.

    In 2012, J.K. Rowling created the website Pottermore which allows for the user to get sorted into one of the houses at Hogwarts. The user can also create their own wand and most recently find out what Patronous they would have. She also includes short stories and information about all things Harry Potter.
