  • Birth of baby Susan: Trust vs. Mistrust

    After Susan's birth, her father goes back to work full-time, and she begins work towards establishing a bond between her mother and father. Susan is in the crisis stage of trust vs. mistrust. Establishing trust with her mother may be easier, as she is a constant physical presence, but with her father this might be more difficult. With time and after consistency of returning home every night after work, she may begin to establish trust that he father will return.
  • Susan's breakup: Identity vs. Identity Confusion

    Susan breaks up with her first boyfriend when she is 15 years old because she doesn't feel that they have the same interests. She is in the crisis stage of identity vs. identity confusion and is working towards establishing an identity for herself that is consistent with her morals, values, and likes. With time, and continued dating, she will have a better idea of who she is, and what she is looking for in a boyfriend.
  • Susan's Marriage: Intimacy vs. Isolation

    Susan is in love and gets married when she is 25. She is in the crisis stage of intimacy vs. isolation and is taking a step towards showing her love and commitment to her boyfriend of three years. If Susan can continue to grown and make changes in cohesion with her chosen partner, she will establish a life-long partner.
