Early Life

Jerry Rice didn't play football until he got to high school.
Rice joined the football team when his principle saw his speed because he caught rice skipping class and his speed caught the attention of the head coach of the football team.
Rice was a great receiver and was All-State team in Mississippi but he didn't receive scholarships from major schools and later that year he graduated and left for college. -

Rice attended Mississippi Valley State University (HBCU) and played wide receiver. While at MVSU Rice had an extraordinary career putting up great receiving and touchdown numbers and broke many records. Rice gained a lot of attention by pro scouts during his four years at MVSU even though that wasn't a top school. -

Rice's rookie season was on and off but his 2nd year was was when his career took off. Rice´s second season was the start of a legendary career, catching 86 passes, 15 touchdowns, and 1.570 receiving yards with quarterback Joe Montana. During Rice's, career, Rice led his team to the super bowl 5 times and winning 3, 1,549 receptions, 22,895 yards, 197 touchdowns, 1 regular season MVP, and broke and set many receiving and touchdown records. Rice played for the 49ers and 2 other teams. -

After retirement, Jerry Rice joined ''Dancing with the Stars'' on ABC and TV shows on NBC Network, CBS, and FOX. Rice also played golf with the NFL team Big Break. Rice was also a ESPN analyst and co-hosted ''Sports Saturdays''. Rice is a spokesperson/ambassador for Nike, Fanatics, and Tri Star. Rice is the Honorary Chairman for the San Francisco 49ers Foundation and he helps give back to the community helping and aiding the foundation's mission to educate and empower the Bay area youth. -
Retirement
Jerry Rice retired from the NFL after playing 20 great seasons on August 24, 2006 with signing a one day contract with the San Francisco 49ers. Rice left the NFL as one of the greatest wide receivers of all time and he raised the bar for receivers in the NFL. -
Hall of Fame
Jerry Rice was inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame on February 6, 2010. Rice was also inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. -
Present Day
Jerry Rice currently lives in California with his fiance Latisha Pelayo. Rice has 3 kids Jada Rice, Jaqui Rice, and Jerry Rice Jr., who also had experience playing in the NFL (Rice's children has a different mother, Jacqueline Bernice Mitchell). There is a documentary on NFL Network called a Football Life about Jerry Rice.
