Nathanael Greene was an American Revoloutionary War General. He had a successful impact during the Southern Campaign and was regarded as one of George Washington's most dependable officer.

Jefferson purchased the Louisiana Territory from France. The United States paid around $15,000,000 for around 800,000 square miles of land.

Main separated from Massachusetts in 1820 and became its own state. It quickly passed a law that fined a person $1000 for challenging someone to a duel.

The Supreme Court ruled that Congress didn't have power to prohibit slavery in the territories. They stated that blacks were not citizens of the United States and could not sue in court.

Samuel was a brigaider general for the Confederate Army. He was later appointed to full general, the highest ranking confederate general during The Civil War. Samuel never took command in the field, and was later replaced.

The first battle of the American Civil War. It took place in South Carolina and ended in a Confederate victory.

The Battle of Middle Creek took place in Kentucky of January 10th. The Union were led by James Garfield while the Confederates were led by Humphrey Marshall. The Union won.

Oliver was a Major General for the Army. He was known for a strict milirtary style and discipline. Oliver led the IV Corps, and helped to capture Savannah.

West Virginia formed in 1862-1863. It was made up of northwestern counties in Virginia who had remained loyal to the Union.

Lincoln said that blacks who were "very intelligent" and those who had served in the Union army should be given the right to vote. He was referring to reconstruction taking place in Louisiana.

President Andew Johnson was Vice President but suceeded Lincoln when he was assassinated, He fought with Congress over Reconstruction. He was impeached but later acquitted by just one vote.
