Introduction
Jenna Rachael McDougall was born on June 1, 1992. From a young age, Jenna's family supported and encouraged her musical ambitions ("Jenna McDougall on Famous Birthdays"). She dropped out of school in Year 11 to further pursue her music career full time. Through the local music scene in Sydney, she met her band members: Jake Hardy, Whakaio Taahi, Cam Adler, and Matt Best (Novakovic). -
"What Are You So Scared Of?" Is Released
The band's first album, "What Are You So Scared Of?" is released in Australia. The ablum debuted at No. 15 on the Australian music chart. The band released "Starlight" as their first single from the album, then released "Let It Land" for their second. Tonight Alive's goal for this album was to make their music relatable for the fans (Candi). The album was then re-released in America a few months later after being signed to the American record label Fearless Records. -
"The Other Side" Is Released
Tonight Alive released their much anticipated sophmore album in the ealry fall of 2013. Jenna states that the album really helped them find their sound, but it also helped them accept that they don't have one particular sound (Moseley). The album has more of a heavier feel to it than their first, helping to show the many talents of the band. -
First U.S. Headlining Tour
Tonight Alive kicks off their first ever U.S. headling tour with The Downtown Fiction, For The Foxes, and Echosmith (Bishop). This was a major accomplishment for the band since they had played in America multiple times before but always as the supporting act. The tour was a success, giving them a chance to play their new album for the first time in America. -
New Single "The Edge" To Be In "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" Movie
The band announced that they will be a part of the soundtrack for "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" movie. This was a huge milestone for the band, and they could not be more grateful for having the chance. The band stated that “'The Edge' is a song [they're] really proud of and as a band [they] are very flattered to be a part of such a huge legacy that is the Amazing Spider-Man 2" (Kraus). -
Reading and Leeds Festival
Tonight Alive performed on the third day of the famous Reading and Leeds Festival on the main stage. This has been the largest concert that the band has played to date. The band smashed their performance and said that they felt "they did themselves proud" ("Tonight Alive - Interview at Reading Festival 2014"). Jenna later posted on Twitter: "thanks for sticking with us through some technical difficulties today Reading. Still buzzing! What a privilege it's been. Love to you all x" (McDougall).
