Summer starts and Scout is six. Dill starts spending the summer in Maycomb and Scout and Dill fall in a childhood love. -
Scout starts school
Scout starts school and doesn't like it very much at first. -
Children go to the Radley House
The kids go up to the Radley house and try to look inside. They were very curious about Arthur "Boo" Radley. -
Scout and Jem go with Calpurnia to the Blacks' church
Calpurnia takes Scout and Jem to the Blacks' church because Atticus is out of town with the legislature -
Aunt Alexandra comes to live the the Finches
Atticus' sister, Aunt Alexndra unexpectedly comes to live with Scout and tries to make Scout more like a lady, rather than a tom-boy. -
Dill runs away from home to Maycomb
Dill runs away from his home because his parents weren't paying attention to him. He comes and spends time with Scout. He didn't come that summer so Scout was very excited to see him. -
The Trial
The trial between the Ewells and Tom Robinson, who Atticus is defending, occurs. Scout, Jem, and Dill sneak out to watch it. -
Halloween Pagent
Mrs. Merriwhether has a pagent on Halloween in honor of Maycomb. Scout is in it dressed as a ham. -
Bob Ewell attacks Scout and Jem.
On the way home from the pagent, Bob Ewell follows the children and try to kill them, breaking Jem's arm in the process. Bob is trying to get back at Atticus for saying that he beat up his daughter Mayella instead of Tom Robinson. -
Scout sees Boo Radley
Boo Radley saved the children from Bob Ewell. He took Jem into the Finch's house. Scout didn't realize that it was Boo until she was almost finished retelling the story. Boo had been watching over the kid's the whole time and has protected them. Scout was so excited to have met Boo and couln't wait to tell Jem about it
